Rocky Gap State Park

Lake Habeeb in the winter

Rocky Gap is a big state park in Allegany County, Western Maryland. It is one of Western Maryland's most popular destinations for its outdoor activities, resort, and golf course.

Get in

From I-68 east of Cumberland, take exit 50 for Pleasant Valley Rd toward Rocky Gap St for the park entrance.

Free entrance.

The most popular activities are fishing/boating on Lake Habeeb (non-motorized boats are available for rental) and, of course, the golf course. Hiking is another possibility, with plenty of short trails, as well as one four mile and one five mile hike.

Eat and Drink

The lodge has a nice restaurant, as well as a bar and grill. Otherwise, it's a picnic!

In addition to the lodge, the State Park Service operates a private two bedroom chalet overlooking the lake, with a minimum two night stay in low season and minimum seven night stay in high season. $175/night.

The park service operates 278 individual campsites.
