Făgăraş is a town in Transylvania.


Făgăraş, a town of about 35.000 people located half way between Braşov and Sibiu, is known mainly for its medieval fortress and relative proximity to the spectacular Southern Carpathian mountains.

Get in

By bus

As Făgăraş is on the main road between Braşov and Sibiu it is reached by very frequent buses from both of them (travel time one hour-one hour and half). A few buses from Sighişoara (two and a half hours away) also exist. Some schedules are available on autogari.ro

By train

Făgăraş is reached by five-six commuter trains daily from Braşov (travel time of around one hour 40 minutes). Timetables can be found on rail operator's CFR website

Get around

The town is small enough to be visited on foot.



Accommodations are available in a few guesthouses/small hotels, with prices ranging between €14-€50/night.
