Eastern Ukraine

WARNING: The eastern provinces of Donetsk and Luhansk have seen violent clashes since the beginning of March 2014. Governments of newly-formed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics declared independence from Ukraine, and the Ukrainian army fights them to restore integrity of Ukraine. The region remains extremely volatile and unsafe for travel. Possible dangers are: getting wounded or killed in the bombings, either misguided or directed at civilians, being kidnapped, robbed (including of the vehicle, you're using), being beaten or killed. Visiting these two provinces at this time is very unwise. However north of Lugansk region (to the north of all the major cities), which is held by Ukrainian army now, is somewhat more calm.

Eastern Ukraine (Ukrainian: Східна Україна) is the industrial coal-mining region of Ukraine, home to much of the country's Russian population.
