Dendermonde

Dendermonde is a city in East Flanders. The small-sized city has about 45,000 inhabitants. It is strategically located between the bigger cities of Ghent (Gent), Mechelen and Brussels.

Get in

By train: Dendermonde is an important node in Flanders' railroad network. Connections from many major cities such as Brussels, Ghent, Mechelen and Lokeren. By car: The main road is N47 (Lokeren-Asse).

Get around

Since the historical city center is rather small it is very possible to cover all distances on foot. However, if you would be interested going outside the town center a rent bicycle is recommended. It is possible to rent a bike for free for the first 24 hours with the Blue Bike service. This service point is located right next to the train station. One side note: before renting a bike one must first obtain a Blue Bike card which costs €10. There are several Blue Bike centers across Belgium so if you are planning to visit several towns this may be a very good investment.
