Braniewo is in the Warmia-Masuria area of north-east Poland.
The bus station is next to the train station, though not all local buses serve the station.
The railway station is on four lines. North leads to Kaliningrad; in summer, there is one train per day in each direction. East leads to Olsztyn and eventually Warsaw. The line south heads to Elbląg and on to Gdańsk. The defunct coastal line west doubles as a just usable footpath to Frombork - the old bridges may be too much for some.
On foot. Unless you're heading to the border as it's quite far.
Rebuilt old church, old houses, river. A little way out of town on the road to Frombork is a Soviet war cemetery (Cmentarz Żołnierzy Radzieckich). There is a bus stop opposite, make sure the driver knows you want the cemetery and look out for the concrete red star on the left.
Despite a dearth of online options, there is a healthy hotel scene.
