Amaravati is the newly formed capital under construction, which has derived its name from nearby villages named Amaravati. The region was once a capital of the Satavahana dynasty. It is located on the banks of Krishna River and the capital region of the city is spread over the districts of Krishna and Guntur.

There is no major station. It takes 6 hrs by train from Hyderabad to Vijaywada and Guntur.
From Vijayawada and Guntur it is located equidistant and takes about 45 minutes-1 1/4 hours to reach Amaravati city.
