Or are you merely curious about the ways wikis work and want to know if you can trust their information? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should sign up for wikiHow University's 4 week class "Wiki Editing 101"

wikiHow University, the online classroom of wikiHow, is considering launching a new class – Wiki Editing 101 – this winter.

If you think this is a class you would like to take, please sign up on the this discussion page, as we will only hold the class if at least 25 people are interested in taking the class.

EditAbout the Class

Participants will learn many ways they can share information with the world by contributing to sites such as wikiHow and other wiki sites like Wikipedia. We will also discuss the ways that wikis that are freely editable by anyone grow, over time, to contain information that is complete, accurate and up-to-date. Other topics will include a discussion of wiki community values, ways that community members can contribute besides editing and writing, and the value of open source/open content in community-created projects.

The class will involve written lessons, class and group discussions and hands-on experience editing and using wikiHow. By the end of the class, participants should be comfortable contributing to and using the information on wikiHow and other wikis.

EditCost

100% of the tuition will be paid by wikiHow. This will cost attendees nothing.

EditSchedule

The online classroom is open 24 hours a day. Writers from any time zone and any country are welcome. The class is expected to last for 4 weeks and will start in late January.

EditWho Should Participate?

Beginning wiki users or people who have never edited a wiki before. If you have experience editing on a wiki, but want to broaden your skills into new areas, you should also attend the class.

Since the class is targeted at the adult education level, you should be over 18 year old. Exceptions to this age restriction can be granted in some cases by emailing wiki@wikiHow.com.
