Project Home Articles We Fixed Up

EditProject Info

Hello editors, and welcome to our project, the Forgotten Article Project. Our project was created to fix up those articles that have old tags on them, as well as other articles that are not in good shape and have not been edited for a long time. We either address those tags directly or notify appropriate editors about tags that we can't fix, like merge or title tags. We also aim to boost articles that need editing and haven't been edited for a long time in our Forgotten Article Boost (FAB) section.

Please find time to help out at the Forgotten Article Project! There are lots of articles out there that are hard to find because there is no specific category for articles with old tags on them. There are so many articles that need to be fixed up every day on wikiHow; some just get lost in the press. Our job is to find them and fix them up.

Please help contribute to this project. Your help will be greatly appreciated not just by us, but by editors all over wikiHow that appreciate you boosting these articles.

Any questions? Comment on our forum (here: http://forums.wikihow.com/discussion/16589/the-forgotten-article-project-official-forum-thread#latest) or ask the leader for more assistance.

EditOur Target This Month

Ok members, for our fourth hurdle our target is to have fixed up 15 FAB and Forgotten articles by September 30 so let's get on that please!

EditWhere To Find Forgotten Articles

Finding forgotten articles may seem hard at first, but it is not so difficult if you know where to look. Consider searching in these places:

  • In 'Special Pages'. http://www.wikihow.com/Special:SpecialPages

There are many places in 'Special Pages' that you can look in to find Forgotten Articles. Here are a few:

  • In 'Categories of Articles'. http://www.wikihow.com/Special:Categorylisting

Click on any random category and scroll down. On the right of the page there should be a section called 'articles that require further editing'. There are lots of articles on there with old tags on them. Either edit them straight away and put them in the 'Forgotten Articles that we have fixed up' section of this page or put them in the 'Forgotten Articles With Old Tags' section and edit them later. There may even be some FAB worthy articles that need attention but have no tags on them.

  • In 'Orphaned Pages'. http://www.wikihow.com/Special:LonelyPages

has lots of FAB worthy articles and articles with old tags. Just click on any random article and fix it up. Some articles are okay, though, but there are plenty to sort through.

  • In 'Oldest Pages'. http://www.wikihow.com/Special:AncientPages

You may be surprised to learn that although these pages are old and you would assume that they have been revised hundreds of times, there are many articles on there that need work and are FAB worthy.

  • In 'Dead-end Pages'. http://www.wikihow.com/Special:DeadendPages

This page is meant for pages that have no links to other pages, such as related wikihows, and have no web of links. There are a lot of articles in here that have old tags and are FAB worthy as well.

  • By using the Special:Search tool. http://www.wikihow.com/Special:Search

There is the search bar at the top, but in our opinions, this search tool is a lot more helpful in finding more forgotten articles than that one is.

EditHow to Fix a Forgotten Article

  1. Edit the article as much as possible. Fix grammar, edit the intro, remove the tags, add pictures/screenshots, and try your best to make it rising star quality.
  2. Take it out of quality review if its in it. If you fixed the article as much as possible and it's ready to be fully published ask an admin or booster to publish it. If they disagree listen to their advice on fixing the article and try to help it.
  3. Make sure there are no tags on the article. All tags should be gone once you edited the article completely. If you are having trouble doing one of the tags (like the title tag or merge tag) then ask an admin or booster for help.
  4. Ask for help. There are many more members on this team willing to help fix a forgotten article. If you need help and have questions about an article you are working on ask the leader or another member. You could also post questions on the discussion page of this project. Try collaborating and editing an article together with other members, this helps the article really shoot through the sky!
  5. Let others know the article was fixed by the FA project. On the article's discussion page copy and paste the Nominate an Article as Forgotten code and post your message.
  6. Post it on the 'articles we fixed up' Tell others the article you fixed up so we can see the great quality you put in. Up at top you will find a small area that says 'articles we fixed up'. List your article there.

EditFAB (Forgotten Article Boost) Corner

These are articles that need work done on them but have not been edited for a long time, at least one month. These articles do not have tags on them. If an article meets this criteria it is described as FAB worthy. For these articles, edit them immediately, expand them like you would do a stub and clean up any mistakes, then list them on the 'Forgotten Articles That We Have Fixed Up' section . Don't put a 'stub' or 'cleanup' tag on them- that's defeating the point!

  • How to Win in Dodge Battle in Bomberman: Generation -- old article that is a stub, stub tag added
  • How to Drive on Wet Corsican Rally Stages -- last edit 2008
  • How to Create Almond Fondant Sticks -- last edit 2008
  • How to Make Yule Loaf -- last edit 2008
  • How to Organize a Christmas Creche Exhibit -- last edit 2008
  • How to Make a Vegetarian Packet Cake -- last edit 2008, is a stub.
  • How to Be an Outdoor Adventurer -- has not been edited for about a month, needs formatting and expanding.
  • How to Have a Haircut Like Sia Furlers -- has not been edited for 11 weeks, needs expanding

EditFANT (Forgotten Articles with No Tags) Corner

  • How to Select Flowers for a Winter Garden -- last edit 6 years ago, needs more steps and pictures
