Congrats on starting your first wikiHow article!

I just wanted to touch base in case you were wondering what happens next :) All new articles go through a quality review process to ensure they follow our community guidelines. If your article meets those guidelines, you'll get a note letting you know that it's been promoted.

In the meantime you can continue editing to improve your article, or try visiting our Community Dashboard for other ways to help. You might get a kick out of flipping through the Topic Greenhouse to find articles in your area of expertise so you can add your knowledge there, too!

Thanks for starting an article on wikiHow! I just wanted to let you know that it's been categorized as a stub, meaning that it's a good outline (and we're glad you started it!), but still has some room to grow. We want to be sure that the article has enough step-by-step details in it so that a person reading it can accomplish this task from start to finish.

Do you have any more information you can add? You can also get details from other sites, as long as you put them in your own words and reference them. Either way, it's off to a good start. It'll be great to see how it develops! If there is anything I can do to help you expand the article or get around on wikiHow, please let me know!

Thank you for contributing to wikiHow. Unfortunately, a recent page you wrote here has been nominated for speedy deletion. Typically new articles will be deleted quickly if they violate our deletion policy and appear unfixable and/or offensive. If you think this nomination for deletion has been made in error, please let me know.

Thanks again for contributing to wikiHow. I hope this doesn't discourage you. It can take some time to learn all of wikiHow's policies. I hope you will stick around and keep trying here.

Hey there,

Thanks for your note about How to Use Cortana - it's awesome you have advice to share here on that. I see that it's been marked as a possible duplicate of an existing article on How to Use Cortana in Windows 10. I know that can be frustrating - But don’t be discouraged!

The thing is that wikiHow is all about making the best collaborative how-to manual ever, so we're really big on editing and improving existing articles. Writing a new article is encouraged if it's a new topic idea, but if there's one already out there, your best bet is to take a look at it and add your input to the existing page. People could really benefit from any tips or alternative methods that you have to share! We just want to make sure that when readers pull up an article, they get all the good information in one place, rather than having to open a whole bunch of different articles. Does that make sense? I hope you merge your advice to the existing article :)

No, not all newer articles are Rising Stars nor are all Rising Stars a Featured Article. That article has been promoted so the public can see it without too much extra clicking. If you want more people to notice that article, why don't you use that link in other social networking sites and get the word out there yourself that it's available? The Article Review Team page, isn't the place to do that. The Article Review Team page is for asking a Booster to help them promote the good articles.

I just wanted to follow up with Sarah's message to reiterate how important it is not to remove editing templates when the articles need work, and not to add FA templates to articles that aren't being featured. That kind of edit warring can result in a block if it continues, so please stick to our guidelines in those areas. It's best you focus on producing quality how-tos and meeting our Writer's Guide and formatting guidelines, rather than being distracted by banners like FAs or RSs. Not all articles here get those, and that's okay -- our wikiHow:Mission is focused around helping people and providing helpful articles, and improvements in that direction can always be made, regardless of an article or author's FA status.

I also saw you tried to add a category that doesn't exist on this article. Check out How to Categorize a wikiHow Article for more info on how to do that correctly. Thanks!

We all make mistakes, however, I am concerned that you are adding videos without actually watching them. I noticed in RC Patrol that there are times that you add several videos within a few minutes of one another, and I was trained that you had to actually sit and watch videos before adding them to articles, I had to remove a video you added to Become a Club Banana Fashionista, because, again, it didn't match the content of the article. The goal is to give people good quality information, so it helps to take your time and not rush through the process.

Thanks for the Article Review Team note about the 17th birthday article. I took a look at the article and I think it could benefit from some more expansion with ideas organized in a logical sense, rather than just a set of possibilities. At the moment, it seems still like a "stub" rather than a fully fleshed out article. In general, comprehensive step-by-step articles where each step is an action for the reader to take, starting with a verb, tend to be approved more often. It also helps to make sure there are no errors in the writing or grammar and expand on your ideas as much as possible, using research sources if possible.

Good luck with the editing process! If you have more questions, I'd be happy to help.

I looked over the birthday article again but overall the same advice I provided before still stands. I think it would need quite a lot of information pertaining specifically to the celebration of a 17th birthday (not just any birthday) to stand alone as a promotable topic, separate from our other articles on general birthday celebrations. For some ideas of the depth to shoot for, check out Celebrate-an-18th-Birthday- although that article is probably a little more logical in that it focuses on a milestone birthday, which as far as I know 17th isn't, so it might be harder to come up with specific ideas that pertain just to that event. Hopefully the example is helpful in getting your ideas bubbling, anyway!

Oh and we can pass it on the visual request if it does get promoted. I'd be happy to do that then :)

I noticed that you have recently published an article here and wanted to say thanks. Contributing new articles to wikiHow is one of the best ways to help out! I did want to reach out, though, because it appears that the article you submitted is very similar to an article on another website:

http://www.tricksnrecharges.net/2015/12/snapdealsnapdeal-flat-rs-100-discount.html

Did you use that as your research source? Don't panic - lots of people don't realize that copying text from other sites is against copyright law. I can just have the article deleted, or maybe you'd like to rewrite it in your own words? Or if you are the original author/copyright holder, reply to this message and confirm that you are giving permission for it to be posted here. Then I can make a note of it on the article.

If you don't confirm that you are the original author, we will unfortunately need to delete the page from wikiHow. Thanks for your understanding and your contributions here!

Hey there Rajat! As it happens I stumbled upon some of your articles like Enable Cortana outside US and Use Cortana, etc. I found that some of your articles seem a great kick start but are less viewed because they contain small traces of spelling mistakes.

Articles must be of great use to the people who are reading it. Hence the most important thing is to format the articles correctly. I'd say that you've used fair formatting techniques and the visual images in the article Enable Cortana outside US.

Moreover I'd suggest you to elaborate when you are trying to explain the article. As some of our WikiHowians suggested please do read the article, Write a Featured Article on wikiHow. You are always welcome to get suggestions from me when you have any clarification on writing new articles.

By the way, I am a Windows craze too :)

Hello Rajat, Cool talk page!! I saw your message on Anna's talk page :) When your article is promoted, when a person searches on the internet -- for example: your article, How to Download Hike Messenger on an Android Device -- then your article will come up. If it is featured, the article will get a blue star by it and will show up in the four featured article boxes. For an article to be featured is a great feat! I hope that helps :) If you have any further questions, just ask me and I'll get reply as quickly as possible!

Cheers!!

Promoted means the article is live for readers to find in search, and it no longer has the orange message on it that requires them to say "Ok, close" to read it.

Featuring is a much rarer occurrence, saved for the most well-developed and helpful articles. Featured articles are selected to go on the home page for a day or so at a time, and are featured in the FA category. It's pretty rare, though, and FAs tend to be the articles that go above and beyond the Writer's Guide :)

I can see from the article history that a booster has now reviewed it and at the moment it has been demoted here you may wish to contact the booster and ask for some more information concerning that. I have looked at the article and would guess that the reason is because the steps do not start with a verb as outlined in our guide to starting a new article. Thanks for your edits on User_talk:Byankno1. I don't know enough about the program. BUt I can tell you that it seems to need a large amount of a fix. Between fixing it for it's formating. On wikiHow, we try to start each step with an action-verb such as click, think, blink, take, etc.

I see another booster came along and demoted it. Just perusing over it, you mentioned about some of it's scan options. Would you mind adding some additional information (as even providing other methods/parts of the articles, as to how these scan options can help check for viruses(Method 1 Step 1's substeps)? How do you get there, and how do each of these differ in what they can/can't grab?

It takes quite a bit of work for an article that I don't have too much knowledge of to boost it in it's entirety. I tend to use the Windows default services which do rather well on my computers I own, so I am covered but not by this software, and the only way I could be using this program is if I bought the subscription that I don't want or need.

For other information, you can ask the booster why he demoted it? And ask them for advice on how they feel it can be improved (though I gave you a few quick improvement ideas you could take on that article so far).

Hey Rajat,

You've had many warnings about your video additions now, but your process doesn't seem to be changing. Many, many of the videos you've added have been undone because they don't fit our wikiHow:Video Curation guidelines. Why are you adding videos that don't show any how-to material for the page in question?

I do have to warn you that ongoing misuse of the tools will result in a block from editing to give you the time to read and thoroughly understand those guidelines. I'm afraid we can't have folks adding videos that aren't helpful to readers and aren't even remotely related to the pages they're on. Do you have questions about the guidelines?

I added a video for you on that one.

I am very concerned about your continued addition of videos that do not meet our guidelines, though. It looks like you haven't read our policies on videos, and you haven't gotten back to me about any of the messages I've left you? If you're not sure about videos, or don't have time to watch them, I do understand but then please just don't use the tool - skip them. There's no obligation to add videos. But as is, you've ongoingly been adding unrelated videos to all sorts of topics, and this is a big disruption to our readers as they try to learn from our articles :/

I'm going to put a block on your account for a few hours so that you can take the time to read over those guidelines and re-review the videos you added recently. Here are some examples of ones that are concerning:

Video:Make a No Sew Barbie Doll Top - this video was about making bathing suits not a top. Why did you add it?

Video:Care for a Garden Slug - this video is about a snail. Snails and slugs are different...

Video:Get Your Parents to Say Yes to Hosting a Slumber Party - this video is about getting parents allow you to stay at someone else's sleep over, not host a sleep over. It also seems more like a skit than a how-to?

Video:Cultivate Lemongrass and Video:Write a Quality Resume - these videos really aren't ideal because of how much time they spend advertising their services/businesses before even getting to any helpful information. This isn't a great resource for readers who want the advice, not the ad.

Video:Not Get Homesick at Camp - this is about army bootcamp, not summer camp like the article.

Please do take a look at these videos and get back to me if you don't understand why they were a bad fit. I want to help you learn the guidelines there, but I can't do that if you never reply or add questions. I hope you understand the reason for the short block - it's important if you're going to take on the responsibility of a given tool, to learn how it works and how to help readers with it. Hopefully we can get you back on track to doing just that - let me know how I can help :)

I have my doubts as to the accuracy of the process you described in Make a Old Dollar Bill Into New Bill Outside of bringing it to the bank and asking for a new one, no amount of heating and folding would ever change something old into something new. Therefore, I had to nominate it for deletion on accuracy basis.

Thank you for writing a new article on wikiHow. Your effort is very much appreciated. Unfortunately, there was some information in your article (How to Make a Old Dollar Bill Into New Bill) that I wasn't able to confirm, so it was nominated for deletion due to its accuracy.

But don't worry, a nomination for deletion doesn't guarantee that it will be deleted. You can still edit the article to improve it. The best way to ensure the article's accuracy is to research the topic, and then cite your sources.

After making these improvements, you should mention that you've fixed these accuracy problems on the discussion page. That way, the person who reviews the nomination for deletion will see what you've done to improve the page and possibly decide not to delete it.

Thanks again for contributing here, and let me know if there's any way I can help you out.

I did some adjustments on the article you previously mentioned, but after adjusting it somewhat, I noticed we have a similar article that this information would better be fitted for use into. Once the merge has taken place, the information will be out there for the world to see. The process mentioned in the video you added, plus some of the life information I added was able to bring it up a little in quality. Please refer to the information below.

Hi Rajat.G. Thank you for starting a new article on wikiHow!

I noticed that a title you started (How to Make a Old Dollar Bill Into New Bill) is very similar to a title we already have: How to Straighten Out a Dollar Bill. It looks like they might be duplicates! On wikiHow, we consider two articles to be duplicates when their titles are practically interchangeable (even if the content is different). When we find a duplicate, we then work to make make sure all the information ends up consolidated on one page, typically the one with the simpler, more commonly searched title. That way, our readers can find everything about that particular topic in one place.

If you agree that the title you started is a duplicate, you can help by adding your how-to advice to the other page. The duplicate page will eventually get redirected to the other page, and we don't want to lose all the great information you provided. If you don't think your article is actually a duplicate, feel free to leave a note on the discussion page (which you can find here) explaining why, and let me know, too. Sometimes we make mistakes, and we definitely don't want to merge it if it is different!

If you have any questions or need help with anything, just reply to this message. Thanks again for contributing!
