Cool, what has your experience been like on other wikis? Anything we can learn from them?
I see you already signed up at wikiHow:Wikimania2012. It would be fantastic if you could come. We are probably getting vouchers for some members of our community to attend, in which case we can cover the cost of attending for you. I'll be sending out a formal invite in the next few weeks with more details. It'd be great to meet you in person!

Thanks for contributing here! I was patrolling recent changes just now, reviewing all the edits made on wikiHow and deciding which ones stay and which ones go. I think your edit to Discussion:Defend Evolution Against Creationism might be inconsistent with one of wikiHow's policies, so I undid it. But, I could be wrong! Reply if you'd like me to put it back, we can talk about it.

Hahah -- edit clash! Do you think that fix does it? I sent Lojjik/SudoKing a Skype about it, too, and he's trying to remember why he added that bit anyway, but can't recall right now :P
Looks like the articles are still being categorized in the right spot, so I'm not sure if the extra category listing is necessary (and it does seem to mess up the formatting with the extra brackets). If you think otherwise or have another way to untangle, please do!
At 00:41, Aug 26, 2014
Anna said:
Hahah, how funny that we were editing at exactly the same time... Literally, I removed Sudo's edit as a test thinking, "This probably won't fix that" -- and then it fixed! Great minds mess with things at the same time, or something? :)
Thanks for adjusting it, anyway! I'll let Sudo know, too. Much appreciated!

Follow-up Q for ya! I noticed that the "C" in the Copyvio and related (notifiedcopyvio, copyviobot, etc) templates has gone big. I think that's new? I'm pretty sure it used to be smaller... Is that related to your changes at all, or some other tweak that's happened somewhere?
At 17:56, Aug 26, 2014
Anna said:
I undid the image change you made for now, because the copyright ones ({{copyvio}}, {{copyviobot}}, {{notifiedcopyvio}}, {{notifiedcopyviobot}}, and {{CopyvioNotified}}) were coming out like this: http://screencast.com/t/g5hpl2XT
But I'm not very good with the "behind the scenes" templates, so if there's something different you want to do with it, go for it! Feel free to undo my edit :)

Hey Webster,
I remember someone else on a Kindle having issues with the forums too but I think that when the devs looked into it, they found it was a known Vanilla issue. We juggled a lot of bugs at the time so I may be misremembering and I can check in case I'm wrong, but I know in general we don't do a whole lot of fixing when it comes to the inherit bugs that come with Vanilla, unfortunately, so if it's that, we might be able to do much. Have you tried the mobile version of the site on the Kindle (or vice versa, if you're on mobile)?
Thanks for the MW fix! Oh, and I noticed you told Danielle, "When you undo a bad edit while patrolling, don't forget to go back and mark the bad edit as patrolled." - that's not actually how RCP works anymore. RCP is republishing the old edit, so we actually want both edits to be marked patrolled only as a pair, the next time a patroller sees them come through RCP. Otherwise, in the meantime while the vandalism has been patrolled but the fix hasn't, the vandalism goes out live to readers. Best to wait and have the next patroller mark them both at once so that the previous good revision is the one that's fully approved and live, until both the vandalism and the rollback are marked patrolled at once. Let me know if you have any concerns - cheers!

Danielle said:
It's no trouble. :)

Anna said:
Ah yeah, I do the old school patrolling myself sometimes and find myself click-crazy! Anywho, it has its drawbacks for old school patrollers, but I'm told the way that the patrols are marked as a pair now is the best way to allow unpatrolled edits to be combined in the RCP tool (an efficiency perk) without risking any unhelpful edits going live. It's definitely a twist on the MW original functioning - but the efficiency of the RCP tool itself is nice, once you get used to it :)
I talked wit Lojjik, who worked with Reuben to put the Vanilla forum updates live in the first place, and he doesn't know much about a fix potential there, especially given that I've found some reference to it on other Vanilla forums here or there too. Since the forums are so secondary to most of the site/functioning here on wikiHow, I'm afraid it's rarely highest priority for fixing, especially if it is a Vanilla bug (despite the growth, our team of devs is still pretty small!), so in all honesty, it might be best to see if you can access it from another device? For the mobile site, I have a very small link at the bottom that allows me to go "back to mobile" when I've switched to desktop... but it looks like it's device dependent since I don't see that on the desktop version, so hopefully it's there for you to give it a whirl!
I can put forth the suggestion of the desktop default. I'd find that pretty handy, too! You know how to switch, in the meantime, though? If you click on the hamburger menu, there's a "Switch to desktop view" link at the bottom. It seems to remember my preference at least some of the time but it's not foolproof - nothing ever is, eh? :)
At 16:33, Sep 09, 2015
Anna said:
PS In poking around right now, after switching to "Desktop Site", it actually does seem to remember it even after I change articles and close Safari and reopen, so I'm wondering if we do in fact have a cookie or similar for that... Is it not "behaving" for you? Could be buggy, or limited in how "smart" it is, of course!
