At 13:05, Jan 01, 2015

AlabasterAlabaster said:

Thank you for the input, Chris. I did try using standardized bullets, but the problem in my mind was that there were two or three different kinds of instruction: The steps you need to perform, some caveats, some details. I thought that using different bullet points would make it easy to intuitively know what was what. Maybe I will get over that perception and try it with more conventional bullet points.

I do think you are right with your assessment.

No worries Chris, all writers have experienced the trailing sentence now and then, I know I've done it here and there. It's to be expected when you write as prolifically as you do. "Wouldn't it be better if users would switch that to the regular {{copyedit}} so it sends it to Copyedit Greenhouse instead?"

In the few cases I've seen it, the article didn't need copyediting. This template was used for when a few words were misspelled. It was removed by bot but in a few cases there are stragglers. The spelling errors have probably already been fixed through spellchecker but the template lingers so in those cases it's fine to just remove it.

Good question though, the logic behind this suggestion is very sound :)

Hey Chris! I saw your wV request and would be happy to pass it on. I took a look at the article though and I have a couple of accuracy concerns - for example, "Decide whether or not you'll have room to expand your household or if you'll need to give up the child for adoption." My understanding is that the person finding a child in this situation wouldn't have any right to keep the child - I believe they'd have to give it up to the police and social services immediately so they could find out who did have parental rights, and find foster care or adoption possibilities if needed. Have you read something to the contrary on that? Maybe providing some sources about the legal side of it could be helpful? That's a very involved and tough topic to tackle - kudos for taking it on! I just think it has enough legal implications to it that some sources could help.

Heya Chris,

I know you found the forum post about it - I know change can be really hard, but this one has been a long time coming. The queue of almost 18000 articles shows the old system was pretty broken, and we're hoping this new approach will help good articles get "out there" to readers to help fulfill the mission. I know adjusting to a new tool layout is always rough, but I hope you feel like you can stick with it for a while and try it out - I've been using it for a little while now and have found it easier and more straight-forward than the old version. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after you use it for a week or two! :)

Thanks Byankno1, sorry, I would have thought of something nicer to say if I was smarter.

Thanks for asking about my booster rights, Krystle said that she will remove my booster rights and that was about it. I did receive a message before that about one of my boosts, but I wont go into detail, and I still slightly disagree with her. Quite frankly, I don't really care about the backlog anymore, its Krystle's problem, not ours, and I hope the backlog reaches a million.

Thanks for the note, Chris! That's a great point about MiscBot and the minor edits -- Scott just got the script going again on a last batch, and these ones aren't marked as minor, but I talked to him and he said that if they do more after that, he can definitely add that designation. Good thought!

On the Quick Notes/redirect front, I definitely understand where you're coming from. However, I think this is really a pretty rare scenario - with a username change, the Quick Notes works fine, because the name has been changed in the history/logs/contribution list, too. The only reason it hasn't here is that both accounts still exist, and in this case I watch both pages, and will catch the notes in either place. Also, I believe the redirect isn't actually broken if there's a post on it - it still works. For the wikiPhoto and wikiVisual pages, I'd say if it bothers you, just don't watch those pages and don't worry about it - I'm on it! I have both on my watchlist and I'll find them :)

I do appreciate the concern, though! If you see this happening on a much larger scale and affecting editors other than me, there might be more cause for an engineering solution - but even then, I'm not actually sure that there's a way to fix it when both accounts still exist.

Thanks again for the MicBot suggestion! Scott says thanks too :)

Hey Chris! I was wondering - are you already watching the Article Review Team page? Since we made the changes to how articles appear before they're boosted, there are a few folks out there who are reaching out for help on that page to either get their article promoted/boosted, or find out what they'd need to do to get it up to wikiHow's standards. Answering messages there is a really neat way to help new authors, and I thought it might be up your alley. Might you be interested in lending a hand in signing up to watch that page and get the email notifications when someone posts? There's never any obligation to jump to it, but if you happen to be around online when someone needs help, this would be a great way to be an ambassador to new authors :)

HumanBeing, A few weeks ago, you added a message to the Discussion page of this article wondering why the article was put up. I would like to inform you that I had to post my answer to that on the Discussion page. It was part of a forums post that I started. You can read more on the answer that I mentioned. Discussion:Rescue to Save a Newborn Baby Wrapped in a Trash Bag and Thrown Away

Thank you for your message. I am sorry that you felt obliged to post your answer to my Comment on the discussion page which read, "Think up a name ?????? What about calling the police and an ambulance? And what is that title supposed to mean?" I very rarely feel obligated to do anything on wikiHow, I, as many many others, do what I like. If you felt you had to post an answer, I am sorry for that, although I don't quite understand how you interpreted my comment to be a query on why the article was 'put up'.

Thank you for informing me about the forum post. I read it all and have commented. Read my comment by all means but please don't feel you must. Spend your time on wikiHow however you wish Sir, and enjoy creating whatever articles you believe will be useful to everyone in the world.

Sincerely, simply HumanBeing.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the suggestion on Mentor a Trial Admin on wikiHow. The personal references are supposed to be example notes that the admin writes to the trial admin, in which the use of personal references is appropriate. I put the notes in quotation marks to try to make that clearer.

"It seems like you are discussing what the trial admin can do, but not how a full admin can help mentor the trial admin"

Telling the trial admin what to do is exactly what mentoring involves, from my understanding. I understand that the reader might expect an admin mentor to do more, but hopefully this article clarifies that mentoring as practiced on wikiHow tends to be more of a hands-off approach.

I'm actually not familiar with that email - don't think I've ever received one, so it may be that the code became stale a long time ago? Maybe in the upgrade? If you forward an example to me, I can ask whether there are any plans to work on it, but my guess is it won't get any further changes any time soon, given that there are a lot of other engineering tasks on the docket. Apologies for that :/

The admin list decided to make a change recently to separate NFD Guardian and NAB rights experimentally, to allow more folks to participate in boosting even if they don't know the Deletion policy as thoroughly. Previous boosters are grandfathered into having NFD rights, but going forward, some new boosters may not. That's why I removed it for now - it's experimental, but that may be the best approach going forward to encourage more boosting :)

Hey, Chris. I'm glad someone noticed what I am doing!

I am using the "Special:Search" here: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Special:Search

I found a list of commonly misspelled words on the web, here:http://grammar.ccc.commnet.edu/grammar/misspelled_words.htm

I just took the word and misspelled it the way I thought people would misspell it, then typed it into the Special:Search bar within "quotation marks." I elected only to work on articles that have passed quality review, so I unchecked the "No" box next to Indexed, that ensures that only "promoted" articles will show up in the results.

Hopefully that makes sense. It is quite surprising to find out how many words are misspelled out there, that have been spelled that way for a long, long time. I recently did the same procedure searching for "Source and Citation" and found that many articles had the "Sources and Citations" section properly misspelled (without the s's at the end), but we all know it is supposed to be "Sources and Citations," so I fixed about 40-50 of those one day.

Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for asking!

One other thing, that Special:Search page only updates every day or so, so sometimes it will find a misspelling, but when you click on the article to edit it, the word is properly spelled. I guess that is due to the fact that someone else had already corrected it after the search was updated, thus it still shows as "wrong" in the search results. That Special:Search is pretty powerful, though. It is a lot more responsive than the regular search.

Article translation on the wrong language site isn't "vandalism"; just a basic human error, like any newcomer would be doing. If you see this continuing or amongst others, have them contact either Bridget or Chris H. for assistance - no need to treat this as anything negative ;)

Hi Chris,

Thanks for checking in with me. Stub bot ran yesterday to tag as stubs a set of articles with low accuracy/helpfulness ratings, so that those articles would be deindexed until they could be fixed up. These were articles with enough votes and low enough ratings to let us know that most readers were not finding them helpful in solving their problems. In one case, the service doesn't even exist anymore. Since we don't want to disappoint readers, I made the decision to temporarily remove the articles from visibility in search until they are reviewed and edited if needed. The helpfulness data isn't perfect in all cases, so it's possible that there were some mistakes made, of course.

At 17:42, Jul 16, 2015

Chris-HChris Hadley said:

Hi Chris, I can understand why there might be some confusion, since stub is being used somewhat differently these days than it used to be. It doesn't just apply to short articles, but to those that for whatever reason are not serving readers well.

On Request Your Real Stickers on GetGlue], the stub tag was added to ensure the article was removed from search and Google's index, because people are visiting the page and finding it unhelpful -- in this case, probably because it's impossible to do anymore. It doesn't have anything to do with the length of the article or the formatting. For example, in the same pass we put a stub tag on numerous long articles for the same reason (e.g., Ease Symptoms of Cystic Fibrosis Naturally).

At 18:02, Jul 16, 2015

Chris-HChris Hadley said:

Yes, demoting it would yield the same result. For technical reasons, the number of templates that can deindex articles is limited, and historical doesn't do it.

Good question! It's on hold for a bit - it was backlogged with a lot of old articles where they'd actually already been edited, but the "knowledge" was clogging up the system trying to get more votes anyway. So it's on hold until it can be reconfigured a little so that only active articles that haven't received KnowledgeBox edits yet are in there. In the meantime, you're still welcome to use it; Jordan just didn't want to have it on the Dash if it had some efficiency issues, so they took it off for now :)

At first. Thank you very much for fixing wiki format of my mistake on links and the undo. I admit that incomplete content editing is unacceptable. Sorry.

However, I object "Readers want to know what side is acceptable to walk on and ...", because WMATA public tells commuters to "Stand" during on escalators (Walk <> Stand : this is obvious, wiki guide tell to not writes obvious things). It does not provide an option to walk. It emphasizes to not run. Though everyone who use WMATA should follow its official instruction, Stand. Which side to stand is not necessary, because no one are instructed to walk (OBVIOUS). Instruction which tells commuters to walk, or keep side to allow walkers, do against the official instruction and is invalid. Furthermore, Why walkers don't obey the instruction? And why others who wait are being cheated?

The situation is like waiting for red/green light on crossroads: the rule tells drivers to wait for green light, stop on red light. Who "violate" will "benefit themselves" about reducing time to reach their destination faster while risking proper drivers for their safety and also cheat on their time too if going to the same destination.

At 18:14, Aug 07, 2015

PinionPinion said:

More answer for "..."Stand facing forward"(what side is this okay to do) doesn't prove to the reader that there is a proper way to walk or stand still to ride the escalator."

1. Why do bother on what side if everyone are instructed to stand? If need to address what side should be like this. e.g. "Choose what side that you are confident to hold on handrail firmly well."

2. It is very obvious. WMATA tells commuters to stand. You want prove? Assign Statement: Stand facing forward. (During on an escalator after walking onto a step on previous instruction) Stand + Facing Forward = proper Stand + Facing Backward = improper (because not facing forward) Stand + Facing Left/Right = improper (because not facing forward) Walk + Facing Forward = improper (because not stand) Walk + Facing Backward = improper (because not stand) Walk + Facing Left/Right = improper (because not stand) Sit + Facing any side = improper (because not stand) Lay down + Facing any side = improper (because not stand)

You want to know what is proper way to ride (ride is ambiguous): walk or stand still. (But I also other examples: sit, lay down) 1. walk is against the instruction "Stand facing forward" => walk is improper. 2. stand still (still) = stand + still. 2a. stand is correct way, but still are not enough to match the condition. Must stand + facing forward. 2b. still? No, there are no instruction to force comuters to being still. Commuters can moving their hands, shaking their legs, as long as they stand. However, there are other restrictions, e.g. don't lean on the side. It's dangerous to do so.

At 18:48, Aug 07, 2015

PinionPinion said:

Regarding your last reply, I don't understand 3 points.

1. "it is allowed." (Walking on escalators is allowed) Where you got this reference? I admit that some people chossing to walk upwards on the escalator, but How they are allowed to do so? I knows about etiquette that many people do walk, but it is not a reason for walking against proper usage from WMATA, buildings, or manufacturers.

2. "...symbols" Which of my words? Please address. From the context, do you mean walk/stand are symbols? They are verbs, and have certain meaning.

3. I cannot find the relation that you said "So, I disagree" from the former sentences, except one that you told that walking is allowed. Others sentences, how are they relate? My guess: the term walk designate motion, walkers always walk on ground and also on escalators. On the other hand, stand designate no motion, stand will do no motion on escalators and ??? on ground. I have no clue why you need to designate simple verbs: walk and stand, and designate them to motion characteristics. Stand is just stand.

Hi Chris, here in the UK if you have an HND (Higher National Diploma) Universities usually accept that as the first 2 years of a 3 year Degree course. When I did my Photography Degree in 2009, I started off with an HND from Oxford & Cherwell Valley College then completed the final year at Northampton University to get the degree. It seemed the cheapest option for me at the time. Both my children went to University and they will be paying off their Student Loans for the rest of their lives as it is repaid through our Inland Revenue tax system, which means the more you earn the more you pay off the loan, sadly they do not earn a huge salary! You should get back to it and finish off the degree if you can. Regards, Sarah

Hey Chris, I am back to suggest one thing on this article.... Since I did this process twice I noticed that it would be beneficial to add one step right after step 5 where you paste the URL into.

When It shows your phone and address and is asking you to confirm press "Remove this from White Pages" button. Once again - great job on this article!!

Step 6: When your information appears on the screen and you are prompted to confirm just press the button " Remove this from White Pages".

Then proceed with the rest of your steps you created .

Hey hey Chris,

Just in case you're planning on doing any NAB in the next day or so, I wanted to give you a heads-up: We know there's a server problem right now that means new articles aren't getting pulled into NAB. Reuben is working on it as we speak, so hopefully the fix will be quick! But just in case, you can still access articles from Special:NewPages and boost from the Admin tab, if you'd like to. We'll get NAB up and running again soon, and sorry for the hassle in the meantime, but I thought you might want to know about the workaround. Hang in there and we'll get a fix, hopefully sooner rather than later :)

Hey Chris,

I am not active on wikiHow much at all as I am trying to get my Dad's house ready for renting by the end of the month. He had sold it and financed the mortgage himself, but got it back in terrible shape right years later when the buyers defaulted on the loan he floated.

As for signing on as Serendipitee, the issue is the same- I use a password manager which generates really random passwords and I trust the manager to handle those myriad passwords. The problem is, I cannot use the passwords aged to reveal my passwords when I am mobile without paying a monthly fee which I refuse to do just on principle. Long story short, I can only access accounts which have password that I actually remember and this is not Alabaster nor is it Serendipitee However when I get to a desktop computer I can see all my passwords again. Until then, I am not worried.

With regard to your life work and securing enjoyable employment, I feel that doing so is KEY. I would highly recommend searching up "Jobs for Life" in your area and dedicating yourself to completing the program. If your local Jobs for Life program is even close to the one in this area, completing the program will enable you to change your life. Alternatively, I can send you the workbook, but taking on a mentor and tapping the local pool of knowledge and helpfulness is the way to go.

Let me know if I can help further.

AnnaAnna said:

Thanks for the note on the Wikivisual page. I can definitely pass that request on but since the page does already have some reasonable images on it, it might not get redone right away. If you're eager to have the combo images of a particular design on it, maybe you'd prefer to do it? Either way is okay for us but if you have a particular approach in mind that you want cooked up quickly, it might be simplest to download the wikiVis screenshots and just use your image program to paste a screenshot of the badges on the side of each one?

At 22:34, Sep 18, 2015

AnnaAnna said:

Hah, sorry, not very clear! I meant, you could download the Wikivisual screenshots as your "background," and then add your badge images onto them, if they fit along the side, before reuploading them. Not sure exactly how it'd look but might be worth a shot! You can send me one, via email, if you want me to try :)

It sounds like that feature replaces the article text with the wikitext of the template, for good, rather than displaying the current version of the template on it (and any subsequent updates). So nope, as far as I know, that's not something we do here or have a need for. One of the differences between us and them, I suppose :)

Reuben is doing some work on profile pictures right now, so it's a work in progress! Sorry yours went AWOL. Sure thing, Chris.

As you can see here, I added "Sandbox" before the characters "|, ;, and =". The step of the article was showing the reader how to turn these keypress keys into links to other wikiHow articles, and they were incorrectly showing up on this page of broken links. By putting Sandbox in the first half of the link, they were no longer broken.

I hope that clears it up

I chatted with Carrie about Calculate the Check Digit of a Routing Number from an Illegible Check and she's going to make sure the editor takes another look. It was edited with input from a financial expert, so that's probably why it goes into more of the context and history -- some of that might be valuable to readers, but I can also understand your concerns about it being a bit overwhelming or off-topic. So they'll have another look and make sure that everything in there is really helpful. Thanks Chris!

I actually think it's okay? 71% is a pretty solid rating for a tech article - they typically have very low ratings. I don't see anything negative in the widget, either. I understand the distinction over hold and mute but I think it serves readers well to reply to what they're looking for: if they're accidentally calling it hold when Apple calls it mute, that doesn't mean it won't still help them. And if the OS brings back a true hold in the future, it can always be updated. I wouldn't worry :)

At Error: Too many #time calls.

AnnaAnna said:

It's normal to get more votes on all sides when an article gets more views. It only had 1 vote before, and now it has 71. It's had over 12,000 views this month, so 7 negative votes out of that is honestly a pretty small portion. It's still helping a lot of people!

Why don't you just make some edits in the intro to explain the distinction between mute and hold? That way, the reader gets an education about what they were looking for and receives the next best answer.

Hmm I'll think on that one. Okay,

This is about the barnstars. When they are pasted to the userpage, the horizontal barnstars tend to show vertically. Is it something about barnstar or the userpage? Also, is there a way to add the templates to userpage from the talkpage without keeping the comment header and footer? You may check my userpage for reference.

In this template, does the projection of the model seem appropriate? Template:Trendy

In this link, the word 'Artiness' is showing red in color. Template:Artiness

In this, the model or image is exceeding the yellow border: Template:Enhancement same with this Template:WikiGnome this Template:Promisingillustrator and this one: Template:Rc Champion

These templates show the text going out of the text box when we see in the the templates list, but it shows fine when previewed on talkpage. :Template:Author2 and Template:Kind and Template:Defender2

This barnstar says, good sense of humor but in the message it says about fun, warm and friendly attitude.:

wikiHow Contributor with a Good Sense of Humor (GSOH)
Barnstar_of_Humour3_910.png
Reasons

The message on this template is too small to be read: Template:Hi Same with this, the text stresses the eyes a bit: Template:Author6

On this page where there are various awards templates, it has a link to the barnstar page. Should the barnstar page be shifted to this page? Or could the barstar link be removed from here? : http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Outstanding-Editor-Awards

(In the same page I mentioned above), the template for the featured article is rather just plain for a featured article. Also, its preview could be added in the templates page maybe instead of having to go to another page.: Template:Featured Author

This template page has something gone wrong at the end of the page: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Outstanding-Editor-Awards

Starting with the 'Got it' template till the last template on this page, text is not visible: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Random-Editor-Awards

In this, the text and the image could be adjusted and aligned to balance the complete template: Template:Title Award and Template:Video Award

These pages could have a preview of each template like in all other template pages: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Article-Template-Help-Versions and http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Category:Project-and-Team-Award-Templates&viewMode=text and http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Category:User-Team&viewMode=text and http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Category:Project-and-Team-Talk-Page-Templates&viewMode=text and http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Category:UserInfoBoxes&viewMode=text and http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/User-Page

On this page, the template code and the preview of the template has a lot of blank space: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Coaching and http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Quicknotes

This holiday templates page has more than two holiday templates. I think the emphasis could be on valuable days which could be relevant on wikiHow as well like, Teachers Day, Friendship day, April fools day, Earth day, Labour day, Children's day etc. http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Holidays Also, the new year template is just text in red color. If theres a mothers day, there could be a fathers day too.

This Brithday template in this same page has no preview on the page. Also, while using this template to wish someone on their birthday, it seems a bit weird because of the image being of a real person. http://www.wikihow.com/Template:Happybirthday

In this same page, the Christmas template is too long with the poem. The text could not be read easily. Template:Merry Christmas

This template could also use a change of image. Template:Mia

On this page, a few templates have no preview: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/User-Statistics

This page has some text in another language. Also, it would help to have more preview of all the templates mentioned in it: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Image-Editing

Thanks for correcting my message on your talkpage. It is looking legible now. All the templates are looking better now but this one still looks like it is going out of the comment box. (I tried seeing its preview on a talk page. http://www.wikihow.com/Template:Promisingillustrator

The end of this page still has some text overlapping the other: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Outstanding-Editor-Awards . I noticed the text of the lower half of this page is whowing another font while the upper half has another font. May be it happened after you corrected a template there.

And from this page itself, the 'Author5' template could be balanced better for visual appeal. I mean the balance between the text and the huge image. I tried seeing 'Author5' on talkpage, and it has the image going out of the border. Same with 'Author6'. Also the text font could be non-italic for better reading?

This issue: Can you please clarify what you mean by this? I just don't understand what you mean.: Vishwavijay said: These templates show the text going out of the text box when we see in the the templates list, but it shows fine when previewed on talkpage. :Template:Author2 and Template:Kind and Template:Defender2

I meant that the preview of the template on the template page looked haywire. But the template looks fine on talkpages. I tried seeing a preview of these templates on a user's talkpage.

I am sorry about the confusion. About these two templates, I meant it's preview on talk page. Try seeing the preview of these two on a talkpage: 'Video Award' and 'Title Award'. It shows the image exceeding its borders.

With this page: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Random-Editor-Awards I meant, the text is in white color. Please have a look at the page. I will paste a few text on this page that is white in color: Got It, Helper, Internet Relay Chat (IRC Buddy), shining_star etc. The text is also in white color and its explanation also.

Thanks for taking care of the huge Christmas Template. A number of templates are looking much better now just like MIA template for welcoming. Does the rock symbolize something? Its great and better than the earlier picture.

About this: On this page, a few templates have no preview: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/User-Statistics You suggested me to ask in the forums. Shall I use your discussion to post it on? I mean the issues are connected, so might as well use the same discussion?

I was wrong about the New year template I feel. Just the red text, is also pretty beautiful.

Thanks.

Hi,

From this page: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Outstanding-Editor-Awards , The author5 template's new image is truly beautiful. In the Author6 template, I tried seeing its preview on a talkpage, the image is still going out of the borders. Same with the 'Author3' and 'Author4' template. It's previews on the template page is quite large but when you see them on the talk page, it becomes rather smaller comparatively.

(While these templates 'HallofFame' and 'Imagechamp' are showing fine on a talk page but in the templates page, the text is showing out of the borders. - If this is not a major concern then you may skip it.)

You said: 'As for the next following paragraph, no don't use the forums discussion about barnstars. The templates you found AREN'T BARNSTARS at all.'

Which page or template are you referring to? Could you place a link of it for me? I was referring to this page: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Outstanding-Editor-Awards it has a link to this barnstar page: http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Awards/Listing/Barnstars

Thanks for taking all of it to the forums to find all the helpful edits and corrections.

While searching for any awards I might have missed, I found, 'Rc Champion' on this page http://www.wikihow.com/wikiHow:Templates/Patrolling Again this is about the image overflowing the border.

Also, I edited the message on this template: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Template%3AHelp-Award&diff=18889659&oldid=4716725 Is it okay?

and adjusted the borders on these :

http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Template%3AGatekeeper&diff=18890031&oldid=18889968

If they do not seem okay, please let me know so I don't err again on the templates. If its okay, then I might follow this throughout, if I find any more such templates.

I didnt get this from your last message, 'eighths redesign'.

About the other issues about articles, I was referring to, its about deleting the duplicate titles in the article request list. I have written 2-3 articles seeing that list much earlier. Later, I realised that the title was a duplicate. There is an already existing article in wikiHow.

So my suggestion is, if we delete the duplicate titles from the articles request tool, many duplicate articles will not be made (mostly by new users).

What do you say? Does this sound helpful?

Thanks for sending the link for suggested titles to delete. But I may not use it that you mentioned the possible set of actions that takes place when new users make duplicate articles.

But I feel that it may help if we allow the users to know about all NFD RCP NAB etc through regular means, so they don't get disappointed about their articles being deleted or tagged as duplicates. Just my view on this. :)

I was wondering how magical the borders on your userpage looks. As you scroll it changes color. Wow. Thats awesome. :)

Yep. I have the following words/acronyms on my list: NAB, backlog, vandalize, community dashboard, greenhouse(s), tag, promote, demote. I am also thinking that the booster entry is too long for the glossary format, but there is a certain efficiency (elegance amid the clunkiness) when presenting a snapshot of booster activities in one place: The entry attempts to polish all the facets of boosterism so that they shine clearly in the eyes of the newer users.

I found my laptop to be glitchy and I sometimes lose my more extensive edits, so I have taken to publishing more often. As stated in the edit summary, this is only a start on populating the glossary with newer terms arising out of the hatchery implementation. I definitely plan to revisit the booster entry and refine it.

P.S. I need to get back with Anna on troubleshooting the failure of my system to save drafts - either manually or automatically. The last draft in My Drafts is dated July 31, 2015. Last time we looked into this, we didn't get too far at all.

I want to include you in my celebration, so Merry Christmas! It's not exclusive (or excluding others) by wishing others "Merry Christmas", but some propose that it is wrong to even say it nicely in public. But, saying "happy holidays" is NOT inclusive (not reaching out) but merely excludes the 80% who would like to say Merry Christmas, i.e.: excluding them and me from our desire to include/bless others by proclaiming a "Merry/Blessed Christmas". So what if it was Winter Solstice, once a pagan holiday; but calling it Christmas now elevates it to a higher calling... How to Celebrate Christmas.

Looks like she was mostly offline for the holidays; it was Christmas after all. I was offline too- no harm in taking some time away from the screen :)

I'd try putting yourself in her shoes and seeing it from the point of view of another volunteer coming across an article on a program/software they're not as familiar with as you are. It's always tricky to tell what's spam around here, esp in tech topics, so I can understand it setting off alarm bells for any editor who didn't see it was an established community member writing on the topic. We get so many spam attempts every day, after all. It's great that we all now know it wasn't a spam attempt- I know you use Goodreads and have a lot of good advice to share about it, and I think that's great. I bet Sarah would recognize that, too, after looking at your edit history in greater depth; that's just not obvious from the boosting tool. I'm sure all will be well now that you guys can touch base about the topic in more depth :)

Two things I would keep in mind, too: first, even boosting is a volunteer effort and nobody is under any obligation to reply right away, so I think even when it's hard, being patient with your correspondence will be helpful. Secondly, you yourself are a booster. You're welcome to boost your own articles to avoid that kind of misunderstanding if it concerns you. I'd also try to assume good faith of other boosters' actions- taking a couple of days before getting back to someone is just fine. It'd even be okay if someone took a lot longer- after all, most folks take wikibreaks here or there, so I wouldn't see that as ignoring your message. If you wanted a second opinion after not getting a reply from someone about a concern, you can always ask another booster or admin. Probably best to do that through private channels rather than the forums, since that can be seen as negative even if you didn't intend it as such. If you'd like to discuss the best means for different kinds of communication more, let's email about it :)

Very glad it's all sorted now and sorry for both of you stuck in the misunderstanding in the middle. Hopefully all water under the bridge now. Nice job with the article! :)

On the diaper addiction article, I can understand the argument for a change but it does get a pretty big audience as is, so I think the title is probably a good fit as is for what people are searching. Personally, I don't feel a split is really necessary because I reckon that many readers looking to recognize an addiction would also be interested in finding out what their options for modifying it are. I think, sometimes, being thoroughly helpful on a given topic means going beyond the first parts of the search/title and providing the additional help that many readers are looking for when they do that search. So my feeling is it's probably all right as is- but if you disagree, I don't object to a change. I'd just be somewhat concerned that with a less commonly searched title, it might reach (and help) a smaller audience.
