Chris,

Thanks for letting me know about the spellchecker tool not working in IE. I have filed a bug report and it is being looked into by our engineers.

I will touch base with the office about changing the wording of "done" to "cancel". Pressing "done" does the same thing as "cancel".

If you click the "Remove Profile" link, it will ask you to confirm your decision before it erases your profile. Please keep in mind that this has nothing to do with Facebook, and will only erase your profile information, but will not delete your account on wikiHow.

If you use the Facebook button on your Byankno1 profile to link to your Facebook page, your other wikiHow account (the one that was created when you tried to connect to Facebook in the past) will be de-activated. You asked "Also, IF I convert, will the articles I create(and all the thousands of edit's I've done) be converted to my other account?" If you activate Facebook connect on your current Byankno1 account, this account will not be affected in any way. The other account will be deactivated and you will no longer be able to use it. Any edits you made under that other account will not be transferred over. Please keep in mind that this is permanent, so if you have any doubts about connecting to Facebook, exercise caution.

I removed the NFD from Add a New Book to the Goodreads Database as I determined the article to not violate our deletion policy. It would be great if you could add screenshots to the steps.

About the wikiHow Herald, please contact the volunteer who publishes it about your subscription:

The meaning of e.g. is not en garde -- it's for latin exempli gratia (e.g.) "for the sake of example". Usually shortened in English to "for example". "e.g.,"; in this usage it is sometimes followed by a comma, depending on style.

Often confused with id est "i.e.," -- meaning "it is this".

All changed as requested.

I have a few tips to offer about grammar. Nothing against you at all. Just a few things that would help :)

1) "Singley" is not a word. Maybe try "individually" ;)

2) Spacing before using a parenthesis is generally encouraged. Just neater :)

3) Using less commas would be great! Commas indicate something like a separation.

Just a few tips. Keep up the good work!

Hi, Chris,

I have never had any luck using IE7, when I try to change a category the edit fails. I have talked to Krystle about it, but the only time I am successful is when I can literally edit the category directly on the page, and with a slow ISP, that takes forever.

Anyway, I am pretty sure if you post a need to bulletin on the forum, there are others who will volunteer to help out, no one would expect you to do it alone, but I do think you should know your efforts are appreciated!

Thanks again, and take care!

This edit http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Work-Cite-Wikipedia&diff=7183166&oldid=7183146 creates a broken redirect, if I am not mistaken, since the content contains additional charactors (pound sign, plus the word steps.

I don't think there's a Restaurant Food category; since it's way to general to categorize what foods are served in restaurants vs. not. Hi Chris! I think the draft will automatically open in your specified default editor. Take a look at your preferences:

http://www.wikihow.com/Special:Preferences

Click the "Editing" tab. Select "Advanced Editor" from the dropdown...this should fix it! Let me know if it works.

Hey Chris,

I understand what you're saying :) What I was trying to explain is that any article you open on wikiHow, even if it is a draft, will open based on the preference that you set as a default. We do not have a separate default for drafts.

One thing you can try is writing __FORCEADV__ on the draft. I'm not sure if it will work, but it might force the draft to open in advanced editor from that point forward.

Thanks for following up on the images for your article. I am now investigating. If we do not get the images on there very soon I will reschedule to give you plenty of time to review the images.

It appears that you may have forgotten to assign a license to the pictures you recently uploaded. I just wanted to verify whether you made these pictures yourself or got them from somewhere else:

If this is a screenshot of computer software, let me know so I can tag the image as Fair Use. If you got it from a search engine, like Google or Bing, or a website you found, please let me know which site - images that are copyrighted can't be used on wikiHow and have to be removed, but you can search for images we already have permission to use by entering search terms in the Search area instead of uploading using the "Browse" button. For more information, see Import Freely Licensed Images Into wikiHow. If you're searching for images on the web, check to make sure they have a "Creative Commons" or "Public Domain" license associated with them (might be found near the picture, or in the site's Terms of Use), rather than "All Rights Reserved". If using Google Images, you can click on "Search Tools", then "Usage Rights", then "Labeled for Reuse".

Thanks again! If there's anything I can help you with now or in the future, don't hesitate to contact me or someone else in the wikiHow forums. I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi Byankno1/Archive2. Thank you for starting a new article on wikiHow!

I noticed that a title you started is very similar to a title we already have. It looks like they might be duplicates! On wikiHow, we consider two articles to be duplicates when their titles are practically interchangeable (even if the content is different). When we find a duplicate, we then work to make sure all the information ends up consolidated on one page, typically the one with the simpler, more commonly searched title. That way, our readers can find everything about that particular topic in one place.

If you agree that the title you started is a duplicate, you can help by adding your how-to advice to the other page. The duplicate page will likely get removed in about a week, and we don't want to lose all the great information you provided. If you don't think your article is actually a duplicate, feel free to leave a note on the discussion page explaining why, and let me know, too. Sometimes we make mistakes, and we definitely don't want to delete it if it is different!

If you have any questions or need help with anything, just reply to this message. Thanks again for contributing!

Chris,

I don't think there is anything to worry about as the article was a duplicate of one of your diaper articles. I realized that after sending you the dup message.

I did try to find the article in question, but I've done a lot of NABs these past few days, and I'm not finding it.

Don't worry as I think everything will be just fine.

Chris I've searched back to February and haven't found it. You can also go to the Special Pages and select NAB booster status. I think that's what's it's called. Go to my name and check the articles I have boosted. You may find it there. Remove the dup tag if you do find it.

I don't think you have anything to worry about as I think there was something quirky going on with the computer.

Hey Chris!

If a person has published an article that's a potential copyright violation, I usually write something like this: Hello there! Thanks for starting an article here. The thing is, it looks like a copy of an article I found on another website. Unfortunately, most websites don't license their content so that it can be copied onto other sites. If you did copy it, can you let me know so I can delete the page and no one gets in trouble for breaking copyright laws? Thanks!

Of course you would modify it in a few ways, for example you would take out the part about deleting the page yourself :)

Rising stars do get on the home page, below the featured articles...Here's a screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/0wpTnVWznN

But, there is only room for the 5 most recent rising stars, so they usually don't sit on the home page for long :)

I checked the page and it seems MA has restored the templates you placed: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Use-the-iPhone%27s-Camera-App&action=history

Congratulations on the Rising Star, by the way!

BTW I have returned your article to its previous status including the "inuse" tag. I saw your comments to Krystle and to make it perfectly clear I only removed the screenshot tag which is within my rights as a NABer. NABers and Admins can, and do, remove tags when appropriate. I did not add the "inuse" tag and I am not sure how it was placed on your article.

As I wrote earlier, I wanted to make your article look good while making wikiHow look good too. There is nothing more unprofessional than having a tagged article on wikiHow's front page.

I have also sent this message along to Krystle so she is aware of our communication.

In the future, I would suggest you assume good faith, a basic tenet of wikiHow culture. I was trying to do a good thing and that's been tarnished.

However, upon closer examination after searching, you would have found my article Make Cake Flour. You could have made your edits into my article. Please be careful.
  1. The article wasn't even in the search results.
  2. Is there any other way to rephrase your messages? This really sounds like it was required for me to know every single article on wikiHow.
  3. It would be reasonable for me to merge mine into yours, however, the first part could easily be removed and the title be changed to reflect the second part. It could really go either way.
  4. Please try to see things from both sides rather than this, thanks.

I noticed your comments to Maluniu concerning the cake flour recipe.

wikiHow is getting close to 140,000 articles, I think, and even if that number is not correct, it is a safe bet there are a lot of articles at wikiHow. Sometimes things slip through the cracks and articles get missed.

If you want to blame anyone, blame me for not catching the mistake in NAB. To be honest, I do not recall this article as being shown as a duplicate and available for merging.

Sometimes glitches happen and that's where we are supposed to assume good faith.

I've sent along this message to Maluniu for her review.

Chris,

Every time you start an article at WH, the computer automatically generates a list of potential duplicates. As Mal is a seasoned contributor, and an admin, if she had seen this she would not have written the article. I should have also caught the error, but as I wrote earlier I did not see there was a potential duplicate.

Something glitched. I am glad you pointed out the error, but you could have waited until the contested article was off the front page.

About this note:

"Hello there (editors name wikilinked). Thank you for starting a new article here on wikiHow. However, there is already a duplicate web page that exists at (external wiki web link here). Since most websites licenses to deter users from copyrighting a page, I'll have to mark your article(internal wikilinked here) for deletion, so the appropriate party may delete this. Every editor is valued here, however we can't have articles such as the one you created written on our site."

I think it mostly looks good, except for this part, which I thought was a little confusing: "Since most websites licenses to deter users from copyrighting a page"

Maybe I would change it to "Since most websites copyright their content, that means it's illegal to copy it without permission."

Chris,

Part of good writing is attempting to write the whole article. If it helps, sometimes I will write the article first (the main ideas) and then go back and add the intro. Sometimes writing down the main ideas will lead you to the intro.

Most the time I've already had a pretty good idea on what I plan to write. I've written a long time though so my mind automatically kicks into writing mode.

Of course my fingers don't always cooperate and then I get those typos LOL!

If you want me to take a look at your articles before releasing them to NAB please let me know. I will take gander and offer tips, if you want.

As for seeing an article in the spellchecker tool, it's likely that the words were corrected by someone else right before it popped up in the tool. The list of articles in the spellchecker tool gets updated periodically, but not constantly, because that would be too taxing on our servers. So, you might occasionally see an article lingering there that hasn't gotten removed in the latest update just yet :)

At 00:46, Jun 06, 2012

Hey Chris! I just came across some redirects where the titles don't meant the same exact thing and I noticed some of them had been created by you recently.

For example: http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Convert-Pdf-Files-to-Ms-Word-2003&diff=prev&oldid=7856932 "Convert Pdf Files to Ms Word 2003" is more specific than "Convert an Adobe Acrobat PDF to a Word Document" because it refers to the 2003 version.

Here "Write on Pdf Forms" was redirected to "Edit Text in Adobe Acrobat" but filling out a PDF form is different than editing existing text in Adobe Acrobat, in my experience, so I'm confused as to why these were combined?

Similar questions about this - "Install Adobe Pdf Printer" isn't the same as "Use Adobe Acrobat PDF Writer" because installing and using are two different activities requiring their own steps.

I wanted to check in with you before undoing these in case there was a specific reason you created them? You're in the midst of taking the NAB test so I know you've read the wikiHow:Merge-Policy and understand that a redirect should not be created if the titles are not exactly interchangeable, so I'm hoping you can clarify this stuff for me. Thanks!

Hey Chris! I just wanted to follow up with a question you had a week ago about the spellchecker tool, and whether we're making a dent in the total. We definitely are, this past week we reduced the total by about 200 articles. I know that seems a little low, and there are a few reasons for that:

  • New articles are being added to the list all the time.
  • There are lots of articles that get spellchecked, but still have spelling errors in them.
  • Even if an article gets off the list, it might go back on. Every time an edit is made to an article, it's re-checked for spellings (not immediately, but regularly). So articles may move in and out of the spellchecker over time.

I hope this answers your question!

Hey,

I'm doing a community survey as part of my research for a Wikimania conference presentation and since you're an active member of this community, I was wondering if you'd be willing to answer a few questions? This is the first official community survey we've ever done at wikiHow so it'd be great if you could take part. There are only five questions and it should take you no more than a few minutes to answer them. Check it out:

http://goo.gl/9oHCN

All of the answers you submit will be kept confidential, and when I share my findings for the presentation everything will be anonymous (no usernames). Having this kind of information is going to be really helpful not just for us, but for other sites like Wikipedia that want to learn from us. The more people who take the survey, the more accurate the data will be.

If you have any questions about the research please let me know! I hope you can take the survey. I'm pretty excited about telling people at Wikimania about our community :)

Hey Chris!

Seems like you've been on a video adding spree! Awesome.

I'm a little concerned though because many of them have been getting removed because they don't meet the video guidelines. For example, the video you added to Be a Power Hitter was a video of a baby swinging a bat - I don't see how that is helpful since the article is for adults? The video you added to Make a Calendar was about creating a calendar in Microsoft Word, but the article is not about Microsoft Word at all, it's about creating a physical calendar from paper. And the video you added to Play Dots and Boxes is about a game that is very different from the one in the article. With you having embedded hundreds of videos this past week, I can't review all of them, but these are the examples I found that had me a little concerned.

Perhaps you were rushing? I can't think of any other reason why you would select these videos when they don't match the article. I noticed you have a playful contest going with BLTwitch - maybe the focus went more on quantity rather than quality?

Please let me know what's going on when you get the chance :)

Thanks a bunch, Chris! Really appreciate the moral support. It was definitely a rough day, but we've made some big changes, so hopefully this can't happen again as easily. Hey Chris!

On my talk page you wrote "As for the articles, I don't tend to make sure the steps match the video. As per what YOU told me last year, " as long as the video isn't displaying like an advertisement" its okay to except it."

I don't remember writing this, and it doesn't sound like something I would say, but if I somehow implied that any video is acceptable as long as it's not advertising, I'm sorry about that. Let me take this opportunity to clarify that the content of the video should match the content of the article. It wouldn't make any sense at all to have a video on an article that doesn't show what the article is instructing, so please try to avoid doing that in the future :) Before uploading more videos, please read our video selection policy: wikiHow:Video-Curation

"On a separate note, the Google+ for iPhone app now has updated to add thevid hangouts feature. I tried to test it with you earlier, but you weren't avail. On the next hangout you have planned, can you please send me an invite by name, with a slight reminder the day before?"

Keep an eye out on the forums for another Google Plus community call. I don't have one planned for anytime soon, but when it happens, I will announce it in the forums. We can test it around that time, if you remind me.

Hi, Chris,

An article you started tripped the copyviobot, here http://www.wikihow.com/Draw-a-Straight-Line-in-Photoshop . I imagine it is because there is very little text, often, the less text for the bot to sample the more likely it trips.

I can't remove the bot message, so it's temporarily blanked, you need to leave Krystle or Dave a message to get it restored.

Thanks,

Bob

Nor could I think of a way to reword it so the lesson did not direct one to only Orbitz. So I thought I'd let someone else try. I found the article very informative. But it was still one-sided. Chris the original title: How to Shrink Yourself Into a Miniature Christmas Village implied, perhaps by magic, you were going to cause your physical body to shrink and become part of the miniature Christmas village. What needed to be said was how this was going to happen as I am sure we both agree magic is not going to do the trick. The only way to appear to do this is by using image editing as the other way is impossible.

In other words, your title missed the how part of the process.

Hope this helps,

Chris,

To answer your question about potty training girls: There is no difference between potty training girls or boys. Well there are slight differences:

  • Girls typically are ready to potty train a bit younger age wise than boys. Boys tend to need a bit more time to mature before potty training begins. This is a good rule of thumb and not written in concrete.
  • To prevent "accidents" it's a good idea to train boys seated facing the toilet water tank. They are less likely to have "fun" by spraying the bathroom. You can teach the standing up routine after they figure out when they need to make a trip to the bathroom.

Hi, Chris,

I know you know better than to patrol this edit http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Feel-Confident-About-Being-Intimate-Again&diff=8366000&oldid=8076359 but wanted to remind you to be careful patrolling recent changes.

I am not sure this edit is worthwhile, it talks about bugs being fixed, but doesn't specify what bugs, and the grammar is awful, so to patrol it, you should have used quickedit to at least clean it up. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Post-from-Anywhere-to-Facebook-with-FunnyFacebook.Org&diff=8365046&oldid=8278635

This edit removed a stub tag from article greenhouse, but added no content to justify, since the article has only 3 steps, and not much else. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Register-Your-Software-on-a-Wii&oldid=8365165&diff=prev

This edit changed the external link, and unless you are certain it changed to the correct link, it should have been reverted. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Check-Whether-an-Xbox-Live-Gamertag-Is-Available&oldid=8365217&diff=prev

This edit looks like simple vandalism you marked as patrolled. http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Make-Your-Own-Version-of-Monopoly&diff=8365248&oldid=8340675

I don't want to discourage you from patrolling but you need to be careful what you mark as patrolled since you are respected, and most people are not going to question your patrolling decisions.

At 23:01, Sep 01, 2012

BRBR said:

Thanks, Chris!

I know you are a good, solid editor and contributor, that is why I left the message. The stub tag doesn't always apply, even if the article is short, so long as it explains the how to process for the topic. I like to see a good intro, some concise steps, hopefully tips, things you'll need, warnings, and relateds, but that doesn't mean it is required for an article to be complete (hence, not a stub).

The patrol coach will not catch real edits, it feeds old edits from inactive users into the loop, so it doesn't know if an edit is good or not, it is just testing a patroller on edits it does know(?)...at least, hopefully.

Thanks again, and I will take another look at the article you asked about!

You're right, I did think I was looking at Relateds on the first one. I'm hesitant to put it back, though, since not everyone likes to be told to engage in religious activities and we'd like to be broadly appealing. What do you think?

Also, no worries on the second patrol. We all have off nights, and I'm just grateful you're so committed to patrolling. =)

Hey Chris,

So I rolled back your edit to Take a Screenshot in Microsoft Windows. I know there's an article out there for just the snipping tool, but it doesn't get a ton of hits. This article, on the other hand, is one of THE highest-traffic articles on the site, so we really want to make sure people are getting all the information they need from it. It's OK to have content from a specific article duplicated in an article that is more general and broad — especially when it's one as high traffic as this.

Let me know if that sounds amenable to you! I'm happy to keep talking about it. =)

At 00:22, Sep 25, 2012

Loni_lingsLoni_lings said:

Hey,

I've seen the forum thread, but I think we still need to leave the article with the snipping tool method. There isn't really any input from admins or staff, and I'm pretty sure that leaving it is best practice according to the title guidelines. If you still have questions, Chris said he'd be happy to help. Thanks!

At 02:45, Sep 25, 2012

Loni_lingsLoni_lings said:

Hey,

Sorry you're not feeling well. =( 'Tis the season for colds, for sure. Hope you feel better soon!

I don't know if I was really clear enough about this, but that article is usually in 1st or 2nd place every month in terms of which pages get the most traffic. We know that most people won't click through to a separate article on how to use the snipping tool, so it's pretty important that the information stays in the main article. It's getting thousands of views per day, so we want to make extra sure that we're giving each person complete information.

I don't want to get into a revert war, because I do think you make great contributions and you're a highly valuable editor here. But I hope you understand that the rollbacks are nothing personal, and they're necessary to keep a high-traffic page intact.

Hi, Chris,

I saw Login to Yelp, the problem is, Login is a noun, Log In is the correct verb usage, so you might consider changing the name.

(quote from an fairly authoritative source)

login as a noun or adjective: login prompt, login screen, etc.

log in as a verb: I'm going to log in now.

Same idea with logout: You can log out by clicking on the logout button

Just a thought,

Thanks,

Bob

At 01:43, Oct 16, 2012

BRBR said:

Well, login is a noun, I can't find any usage where it is a verb, so I would argue the correct title would be Log In to Yelp. You can do a search of terms if you like, but as I mentioned, three or four respectable websites were enough to convince me.

Sharing passages on Kindles, no matter the platform, has been a major thing since the Kindle 2. The only platform at this time that doesn't have this feature, is the Kindle for PC software(FREE). Amazon hasn't even decided to give people a copy and paste feature yet either.

Hi, Chris,

I see you have done a lot of patrolling today, and after reviewing your patrols, I would like to remind you that adding nonsource links is not allowe, and edits like this http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Select-an-Escort&oldid=8668528&diff=prev , especially where the link is pornographic in nature, need to be rolled back. You also patrolled a lot of edits to massage articles that essentially only added spam links, I won't list them all, as you usually act offended when I try to coach you. Out of the first 40 or so patrols on your patrol long, I found about 10 mistakes.

Please, if you are going to patrol large volumes of edits, either be more careful, or skip patrols you don't understand. One more obvious thing, when someone, even Teresa, adds a related wikiHow to a redirected page, you shouldn't mark it as patrolled without reverting it.

Thanks

Bob

While patrolling, I checked the patrol log for myself. Was wondering if the patrol log would say if the edit had ever been rolled back or not? The history of an article shows it as having been, but the log just says it's been patrolled.

The patrol log never specifies what action you took with the patrol, it simply tells us which edits you marked as patrolled. I always check contribution or article history to see if the edit was rolled back :)

At 19:26, Nov 22, 2012

GarsheppGarshepp said:

Hi B1,

I would argue that: when the intro image is for how to make a cake or some such item -- that a "very general" intro picture (not specific to the article) can prod one onward, like:

  • a bowl and spoon/or a mixer, an oven,
  • a shelf of typical ingredients,
  • a spread of myriad desserts

or a pic may agitate "egg-on" curiosity -- if it is:

  • general/panoramic view of a meal,
  • peripheral/kitchen stuff.

Here's an example of a general image that seems appropo.

What do you think?

Hey Chris,

I see that you reverted Elizabeth without comment here. I'm not sure why - the version she was reverting to was better organized and had more detail, and she left an edit summary explaining what she was doing. It's much better to avoid reverting trusted community members who are trying to be helpful. If you think someone has made a mistake, but the edit isn't clearly bad, it's good to ask first :)

If an otherwise good edit removes some good info, it's easy to use quick edit to put it back in, which is usually preferable to reverting it, which is best used in the case of vandalism, errors, or truly unhelpful edits.

Also, in the list of Category:Articles in Need of Screenshots, I found several articles that don't contain the screenshots template, however, they are listed on the list. The ones that are in reference to StumbleUpon with Internet Explorer and/or Mozilla Firefox ended up there even though they don't have templates for that on them. I tried adding in one edit, then removing them in another edit to see if I could trick the system, but still no good; they STILL exist in that list. I don't know if this is a bug or not. Could be, but not sure(therefore, I'm not posting as of yet to forums).

It looks like in two of these cases, someone had manually added them to that category, rather than the category being assigned by the template. Here's a screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/mv2iACkiJ

In these cases what you can do is remove that category text using advanced editor, once the articles have screenshots. I hope that clears things up!

I got it, Byankno1... no need for clarification.

I WILL try to remind you, if I remember myself. Hahaha ...

Hey Byankno1.. regarding this author - editor issue that we all discussed in the Forum.. I am glad you side with me. I truly and honestly think these two terms must be differentiated.

Especially my article I was talking about http://www.wikihow.com/Adjust-Video-Privacy-Settings-in-Skype

it really doesn't make a whole lot sense at all where no step or a single word was corrected or added. LOL . If it's "terrible" article Krystle mentioned then it must be deleted and the old author should no longer appear as an author. That is how I look at it, anyway.

Hi Byankno1, just checking with you if I did it correctly on this article: http://www.wikihow.com/Set-up-a-Nerf-Vulkan-Post

Title has one misspell: "vulkan"... I put a flag to change a title to "How to Set up a Nerf Vulcan Post".

Correct???

Laura7491Laura said:

P.S. I corrected this misspell inside the article. :)

Hi Chris!

Sorry if I didn't notify you of a featured article coming up. I was on vacation for a full week and during that time, someone else scheduled a batch of featured articles in my place. I was not around to let you know :)

Krystle, when is that Existing Whitelist(spellchecker) file you shared with me on Google Docs/Google Drive, going to be updated to new/more terms. I finished them about 2 days after you last left terms there. Please inform.

I didn't know you had finished with it, I'll look it over and write back soon!

I got the link bookmarked ... Thanks. Looks kind of complicated at first sight but I'll handle it.  :)

Ha.. How come nobody noticed a misspell? I am glad I did.

Thanks for the head-up. :)

Yes, Byankno1, I know EXACTLY what you mean about the person constructing the monstrosity of this site... LOL I think she/he is genious. :)

I WILL get it figured out (although English is my second language). I may not do it right (copy a link) the first time but I will be fine thereafter. :)

Byankno1, thank you for offering your help I highly appreciate it. Some of your people explained to me verbally how to archive, but unfortunately it did not work out.

I am glad you posted an article about archiving so I can follow and I am sure I will manage.

I will be very carefuly archiving, because I might need to have some URL's like yours, handy, in case I lose a bookmark. (I print out some tutorials and bookmark others).

I have to be selective NOT to archive the messages that have valuable URL's.

◄ I will try again using the article you gave me. If I have problems I sure WILL ask you questions. ►

And once again, I much appreciate your offering help, Byankno1. :)

Good idea, but I am not quite clear HOW do I get DIRECTLY to this article when I need it?

You know what I mean? Like if it's in bookmark I go directly there and open it.

Do I have a Watchlist in ONE PLACE somewhere on my profile??

Laura7491Laura said:

Sorry, never mind my question.. I already found Watchlist in "My Pages". I already put one article in there for the direct reference.

Hi Byank... I hav troubles to delete those messages that I got archived...

And also... not clear to me how to I get to that "Archive1" tab.

At this moment I am confused. LOL

At Error: Too many #time calls.

Laura7491Laura said:

Fine. I am busy too, and not quite up to this technical stuff. LOL

At Error: Too many #time calls.

Laura7491Laura said:

Incorrect format there???

And WHY can I NOT delete the messages ???

I highlighted one by one and clicked Backspace button per direction, and it did not work.

You know what would make it a lot easier and possibly avoid an archiving process? - if we see the NEWEST messages first when we visit someone's TALK page. Is it possible to do??? I don't think so.

At Error: Too many #time calls.

Laura7491Laura said:

Byankno1, I don't think I can spend this much time archiving.. It's quite a tricky procedure and requires much time to spend.

Nope - I tend to manually add related links on my own more than using the adder program.

Hey Byankno1, talking about Authors and Editors on Forum... One day, while editing, I came across 270 (or close) authors!!

How do you know who is the ORIGINAL author of the article? Do you have to open up a history to find out??

Doesn't it seem strange 270 authors? LOL

At Error: Too many #time calls.

Laura7491Laura said:

Byank... I was just asking in general about 270 authors... Not particularly interested to find out WHO WAS .. But to me it's ridiculous to go search for the original author instead of having this information readily available.

WHY make it hard and not easier???

Plus, if some of these 270 people made a MINOR edit it does not qualify them as an author.

We should NOT search for the original author in 270 or more names, really. Yes, and what about 500 authors that you mentioned??

It's ridiculous, Byank... You know me, I have a very very positive attitude toward wikiHow and I love the site, but this "author" thing throws me out. LOL

What kind of bar are you referring to in your comment to me?? I am not sure I understand.. and I DO want to know. :))

You can attach an image of it and send to my wikiHow mail if you want.

I don't know where you live, but here, OMG, it's snowing crazy. :( It looks like I will not be able to drive anywhere today which is sad. LOLOL

Hey Byank.,.. can you please do me a small favor? I published an article yesterday and the title should say "a spice rack" - - I missed an "a". Can you please ADD it on to the title for me????

Thousands thanks in advance!!

Laura7491Laura said:

I saw that, Byank... Thanks a lot.. Much appreciate it. I COULD place a flag about a title ( I know how), but I asked you because I forgot you were not an admin. LOL

Thank you for taking care of it.

At Error: Too many #time calls.

Laura7491Laura said:

Byank... I would take this question to the forum but I don't want people to think that I am a confrontational person which I am NOT.

I am also not going to mention a person's name but I think he/she did not like my bringing up this issue.

I don't feel motivated to discuss it in Forum when I feel it will go to nowhere. LOL

At Error: Too many #time calls.

Laura7491Laura said:

I understand what you are saying.

I asked Krystle in e-mail, and she reasponded by posting a comment in Forum.

As far as "what's right and what's wrong" ... I think it's obvious when you see the info right away when you need it vs. going and search in history which takes time and effort.

Byank ... I am not much concerned this question to be answered. I doubt anything will be changed by the wikiHow admin., so it's better not to bring it up and not bother Krystle. :)

Perhaps someone else in a future will ask the same question - why make it harder instead of easier. LOL
