You are doing a great job in editing, but I needed to advise you that when an article is not really featured material, it is not advised to tag it fac.

I just removed the fac that you left on the egg roll article.

You must have tagged it accidently.

Just to be sure, I will send a note to Harry for confirmation.

KnowItSome said:

Yes, that is what I thought. Harry will answer me soon, and we can see about getting that category added, if indeed I am interpreting correctly.

I am sure that you could indeed catch up to anyone to whom you wish to catch up......but is the contrib count the most important thing? High quality work does not go unnoticed, and it seems to me you have been doing a lot of this lately.

Great job!

Wow, nice work with all those related wikiHow links!

Sondra C said:

I have been reading the kudos of every editor who receives one, and notice that your name and the same exact message are on each one of each kudos. http://www.wikihow.com/User_kudos:Exit1010 This practice reveals that you are doing this to gain contribution points, and for no other reason. I also noticed that you add a fac tag on less than featured article quality articles.

It is my opinion that earning contribution numbers by other methods, that do not require actually working towards the betterment of wikiHow is dishonest. We at wikihow are more concerned with creating better articles by serious editing. You seems to be wanting the credit numbers but do not want to do the work to gain them.

It is also noted that you appear to be editing an article, but you do not make any edits or write improper sentence to appear you are editing.

http://www.wikihow.com/index.php?title=Draw-a-Simple-Dog%27s-Face&diff=760652&oldid=693841

These actions reveal that you are more interested in fixing articles so that your name appears on each of them, rather than actually writing or editing articles. This is not a wiki attitude or a wiki way of contributing.

KnowItSome said:

I have found a great article here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith

Eric Wester said:

That is cool!

Sondra C said:

Well perhaps I used the wrong word then. I meant the same message to each person's article that received a Kudos for.

Sondra C said:

Well it was on many articles and not just on one. But that is ok. I might have made an error in what I thought was happening.

Yes, you have become a very good editor, and I am glad that I have been able to help you better with adding the pictures.

I see you have been learning how to size them, just as I taught you a while go.

I do see a great improvement in tht area ...Keep up the good work.

Sondra C said:

That is great. The related need help, as the amount is still high. With your help it can go down greatly.

I do the related also, inbetween editing. You also might enjoy finding pictures for some articles. Now that you have learned how to add the pictures, you might find it interesting.

You can do that and related...so one of the edits does not get that boring.

Sondra C said:

I though you were going to repond about my suggestion about adding pictures to articles..did you leave?

Sondra C said:

I thought perhaps you wanted to some really needed edits, but maybe you just want to edit for contributions only as you had mentioned to me in your last mesage.;).;)

It certainly is your choice. If you need help, or want to work on some other type of edits, I will certainly help you to grow in yur edits and in your editing abilities.

I know you can do many good edits, and learn some that you did not know before.

If you need help or advice, you know where to find me.;)

Sondra C said:

When Horse first joined here, I taught her everything she knows. Ask her, she still tells everyone about it...

I am not only an editor, I am a teacher, and I have taught quite a few really good editors on here.

If there are any other edits you want to learn about, I will help you....of course I will.

As for the FA, I never put the FA tag on my own articles. I leave that for Jack to decide if it is worthy. I just write the articles and thats it. Others edit it, and make it better if it needs it, or add things to it.

So I hope I answered your question about the FA.

Also I never really follow FA around, or tag them, even if someone else wrote it. Again, I leave it for Jack to determine which article belongs. He is the one who chooses them, after all.;)...

Sondra C said:

Ski is not a FA article choice. if it were Jack would have chosen it a long time ago.

so no! Ski is not..

Sorry for the confusion.

Rob S said:
Done and done. Thanks :)

Rob S said:
You should be able to open it for editing. Maybe I'm mistaken?

Rob S said:
I mean you should be able to open up the Request for editing, itself, add the speedy there. Maybe it's not available for regular editors?

Rob S said:
Yeah, I just checked. You should definitely be able to add the speedy right to the Request, itself. Just click the request and then open it up for editing.

Nadon said:

Perhaps you associated a description with the photo that was underneath it? I named the people that was on the photographs as they appeared linearily, regardless of their distance from the camera.

And by the way, you made me do an edit! Roar, I was at 666 contribs! :0)

Thanks again.

Yes, I did say earlier that this message icon is not prominent enough. Will you be bringing that up in the forums? I have not actually missed a message because of it, but you say that you did......so your comment will carry more weight than will mine.

Maria said:

I see that you're a busy bee here. Thanks for the welcome. I've written a few articles and the first one was suggested for a title change. Cool, a good sign though.

I need to learn a lot yet. Thanks for the links to guide me.

KnowItSome said:
I believe you are speaking of the character count. This tells you how many characters have been added, or changed, I think. So a character count of +2, as in your example, might mean someone added a couple of apostrophes, whereas a character count of +568 will show a much larger edit. This is supposed to help us know where to look for vandalism. Do you think this will help us with RC patrolling?

KnowItSome said:
Let me know when you think of it. I may be here for a little while longer. So you think the new design will help those who do a lot of patrolling?

KnowItSome said:

hmmm........I guess you are talking about the adding of the dates.....that can be tricky to remember, yes. Until just recently, I always copied and pasted, but I finally got it down and all memorized. At one time, I had asked in the forums for us to make this automatic, but at that point, it seemed the software we use would not allow a good way to make this happen.

You have said this:

I remembered! Why do they have you do math problems after you add a template? It gets annoying and makes editing much slower. I got it wrong one time!

Sondra C said:

hey! I just got the same add numbers when I went to add a tag, and tried to save it.

It also asked me add two numbers.;)

When you get the answer to this question please let me know.;)

Sondra C said:

Sondra C said:

it seems you are fixing the same related as I am, at the same time.

Sondra C said:

Well, I am the project leader for broken links. I have been doing them for many months now. So I can take care of them

However, I have a problem with fixing the broken links in the templates. It would be great if you could fix them before I ask someone else to do it.

Think you know how?

Sondra C said:

great, so instead of an edit collision, we can work together on this.

Wonderful!

The merge tags have a broken link in the word description

I do not know how to repair it.

If you can, then fix that....and then we will discuss our next change..;)

Sondra C said:

I guess we cannot fix that, looks like admins have to fix it.

I have the broken links covered. If we both do it, we will get edit collisions.

Eric Wester said:
I know that you have made an article using content from VideoJug before and I was wondering if you have to get special permission to use their content or if you can just go ahead and use their content and just post a link to their website?

we normally start out with number one, then use number two if the chatting continues. Number three is used very sparingly, and I have never actually used it.

KnowItSome said:

You are very perceptive, GH! Wow. Yes, I am feeling stressed for a number of reasons right now, one of which is that the RC is above a thousand at the moment and I am trying to get it down below that benchmark.

Are you saying that you do not know what the templates look like when applied? Why not apply them to the discussion page of the sandbox and then you can see them all there?

it is not saying you will never become one, it says the chances are slim, so many after it and so few spots available, just play the game well, enjoy it, report real abuse of the rules and one day you may be looking at the golden invitation :)

First I pick a word that I am going to look for. Such as the word recieve, which should actually be spelled receive. The I go to Google, or any search engine, and search for site:wikihow.com recieve -discussion -request -category. That will list the articles that have that word misspelled. The -discussion, etc tells Google that I don't want the discussion pages to come up in the search results.
