Steps
- 1Check to make sure it's plugged in. If its still jammed, go to step 2
- 2Unplug the VCR.
- 3Unscrew any screw that is holding the top on the unit.
- 4Take the cover off
- 5Stop and look at what you see.
- 6Check to see if anything is inside that shouldn't be inside. If so, take it out. If not, read on.
- 7Flip the VCR upside down. If you find screws on the bottom, remove them. Take the bottom off. Check to see if any belts are missing. If not, turn the loading gear (you will see it) until it won't turn any more. Then turn it all the way back. If there is no way to take the bottom off, go to the next step.
- 8Turn the VCR right side up. Looking at the transport, you should find screws that are holding it in place. Take those out, then GENTLY take the transport out. If you need to, unplug some wires. Just make a note of were they belong.
- 9Turn the transport upside down. Check for missing belts. Replace if needed. Then, turn the loading gear until it won't turn anymore. Then turn it all the way back.
- 10Place the transport back inside the unit, plugging anything needed back in. Screw it back in place. Make sure its secure and EVERYTHING is the way you found it. Leave the top on.
- 11Plug the VCR back in. It will make some noise, don't worry. Its just resetting itself.
- 12Find a tape you don't care about.
- 13Put the tape in the VCR.
- 14Make sure everything is working right.
- 15Put the top back on.
- 16Eject the tape.
Tips
- If you got the VCR not long ago, find an old VCR that is still working. Old as in 10 years or older. Check eBay.
