  • Most Windows 8 devices will not allow you to fully uninstall Internet Explorer, since some files associated with the program are required for use with other applications in Windows 8. However, Internet Explorer can be turned off and disabled if you no longer want to use the application for browsing purposes.
  • Uninstalling newer versions of Internet Explorer and reverting back to previous versions may leave your computer vulnerable to cyber attacks, since Microsoft may no longer offer support for previous versions of Internet Explorer. If you revert to an older version of Internet Explorer, make sure that your computer is running up-to-date antivirus software at all times.
  • Some popular third-party programs and applications such as Google Apps may not support earlier versions of Internet Explorer. Keep in mind that reverting to an earlier version of Internet Explorer may prevent you from being able to use certain functionalities of third-party applications.
