Repeat the process about 10-15 times. Your dog might get bored and walk away if you do it any longer. Make sure you reward them with a small treat each time they do it correctly. It might take a little while for them to be able to lift their paw on their own

Use a "model" dog to demonstrate the command. If you have another dog who knows the trick, make the dog who knows how to give paw (pup 2) sit in front of you, and make the other pup you are teaching (pup 1) sit facing Pup 2. Make Pup 2 give paw, and when they do. Turn to Pup 1 and ask for their paw. If they don't do it in 10-20 seconds, turn back to Pup 2 and ask them for their paw. Repeat the process until Pup 1 catches on.
