Having a party at the beach and you suddenly feel the stinging sensation of a mosquito bite? If you don't have antiseptic/anti-itch cream on hand, not to worry. Dig into your party supplies and splash a little vodka on the sting. The alcohol component will absorb any of the “toxins” and clean the area all at once.

Examine the stung area immediately after being attacked. Also, try to determine that it is a jellyfish that has stung you, before acting. For some types of marine bites and stings, vodka may not work as well (or at all).

Pat the area dry with a towel. Remove any debris or sand from the affected area and examine the area for any stingers. If you see a stinger embedded in your skin, take care removing it, so that you don’t break off the stinger and leave a portion lodged in your skin.
    • Shaving cream or sand can be used to remove stingers.[1]
