Taking a screenshot on your Samsung tablet allows you to capture all contents displayed on-screen, including the time and date. You can take a screenshot on your Samsung tablet by pressing buttons on the device itself.
Steps
Method 1 Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 / Samsung Galaxy Tab S
- 1Navigate to the screen you want captured on your Samsung Galaxy Tab.
- 2Press and hold the “Power” and “Home” buttons at the same time until a white border appears around the edge of your screen.
- 3Release the Power and Home keys. The screenshot will now be captured and saved to the “Screenshot” folder in Gallery.[1]
- Alternately, go to Settings > Motions and Gestures, and enable the “Palm swipe to capture” feature.
- Navigate to the screen you want captured.
- Place your index finger against the left side of the screen with your hand perpendicular to the screen, and swipe right until the white border appears around the edge of the screen. The screenshot will now be captured and saved to the Gallery.
Method 2 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3
- 1Navigate to the screen you want captured on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.
- 2Press and hold the “Power” and “Home” buttons at the same time for approximately two seconds. The screen will flash, and a notification will display at the top of your screen with options to delete, share, or edit the screenshot. The screenshot will automatically be saved to the Gallery.[2]
Method 3 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
- 1Navigate to the screen you want captured on your Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.
- 2Press and hold the “Power” and “Back” buttons at the same time for about two seconds. The screen will flash, and a notification will display at the top of your screen with options to delete, share, or edit the screenshot. The screenshot will now be saved to the Gallery in the “/screencapture” folder.[3]
Method 4 All Other Samsung Tablets
- 1Navigate to the screen you want captured on your Samsung tablet.
- 2Press and hold the “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons at the same time for about two seconds. The screen will flash, and a notification will display at the top of your screen with options to delete, share, or edit the screenshot. The screenshot will automatically be saved to the Gallery.[4]
- Repeat these steps one or more times as needed if your tablet fails to capture the screenshot. In some cases, pressing the Power button too soon can result in the screen turning off, whereas pressing the Volume Down button too soon can result in your screenshot capturing the volume slider button.
Warnings
- Samsung tablets running earlier versions of Android may require you to download a screenshot app from the Google Play Store. If you are unable to take a screenshot using any of the methods outlined in this article, launch Google Play Store and install a screenshot application, such as “Screenshot” or “Screenshot Ultimate.” Going forward, you can use the screenshot app to capture any screen on your device.
