How to Run Sprint Right 69
Your team has all the basic run plays in, has the 300 passing series in, and has a mobile quarterback with two receivers that can beat just about any DB deep. This play will leave your slot guy (the inside receiver) wide open 20–25 yards (18.3–22.9 m) down field right along the side line. This is how you run it.
Steps
- 1Have your two receivers line up in Twins right. The quarterback may be in shotgun or under center. This guide will assume he is under center.
- 2Snap the ball. The tailback should immediately get to the line and look outside to inside for someone to block.
- 3Make sure that the quarterback starts to drop back. At 5–7 yards (4.6–6.4 m), he should begin to roll out right.
- 4Note that the inside guy runs an out and up. He runs this by going 3 yards (2.7 m) and breaking toward the side line, and then turning up field.
- 5Note that the outside guy runs a curl. He runs this by run ten yards up field, and then turning toward the quarterback.
- 6Ensure that the quarterback lobs a pass to the out and up or rifle it to the curl, which ever is open.
- 7Score, or get the necessary yards!
Tips
- This will really work if you run the quarterback outside a lot or have thrown a lot of out routes.
Warnings
- If the quarterback under throws the ball, it will be picked off.
