How to Run a Michigan

Michigans are a great way to get fit for basketball. Everyone in the Mineral Ridge Boys Basketball program from Varsity down to 7th grade run them. If you are from Michigan or are a Michigan fan please note that this is used in Ohio, so that's why they're called Michigans.

Steps

    Line up on one baseline. You should start on the whistle of your coach behind the line.

    Run the opposite baseline, slap the line, and run back.

    Run to the near foul line and back.

    Run another full court and back.

    Run to half court and back.

    Enjoy another full court and back.

    Sprint to the far foul line and back.

    • Depending on what you name the entire run, eventually you'll understand why you hate it.

Tips

  • Don't sprint the entire time. You're just going to puke or pass out, or both.

Warnings

  • If you have asthma, don't worry about not finishing. Your coach should understand. Just use your inhaler.
  • Don't forget to hydrate yourself.

Things You'll Need

  • A basketball court, or a surface with four evenly spaced markers.
