How to Ride up a Curb on a Skateboard

Going up a curb is a beginners' trick, but it may look hard. Not many people know of this trick, as most just prefer to do a jumping trick up a curb. It's much easier to just ride up it, once you learn how you'll be using it a lot.

Steps

    Go at a comfortable speed. Go semi-fast. Once you get better, you can go slower/faster.

    Put your back foot on the tail of the board and your front foot around the front bolts. You'll need your front foot to be in this position so that you can push the board down easily.

    Bend your knees. Although it may be possible, doing almost anything on a skateboard with your knees not bent will be very tough.

    Underweight your back foot, like you're doing a mini-manual. Make sure the front of your board is high enough to get on the curb.

    Once the front of the board and the wheels are on the curb, keep your back foot unweighted and put pressure on the front bolts, so that you can ride up the curb.

    Push your body forward when you lift the back end. This will help you get on the curb.

    Bend your knees and keep your balance. If you lose your balance and fall off the board, just keep practicing, you'll eventually get it.

    The secret to pulling off this trick is to do it all in one solid motion.

Tips

  • The most important thing is to practice. Skateboarding is an art, it requires hard work, determination, and a will to succeed in whatever you are doing. It takes blood, sweat and tears, so don't expect to get anywhere if you don't practice.
  • Don't give up after the first try. You'll eventually be able to do it. Remember though that if you try try again you will probably get it if you practice.
  • If you fall down, don't get frustrated. Get up and try again. Keep calm, if you let your anger take control of you, you lose your concentration.

Warnings

  • Although this doesn't seem dangerous, it can be. Skateboarding can cause serious injury or death. You should ALWAYS wear safety gear, it can save your life.
  • This WILL give you strange looking scratches on the bottom of your board. Don't do this trick if you don't want to put scratches on your board.
