How to Review Accuracy on wikiHow

A big part of contributing towards our mission is seeing whether articles are accurate enough to be at the level where they are helpful to readers. Here are a few ways you can perform accuracy review.

Check for significant expansions (or look for significant expansions in recent changes patrol) and ask the editor for their thoughts on accuracy. Once the editor has replied, decide what to do with the article.
    • If the article is accurate but needs more information, place that feedback on the discussion page and invite an editor to add that information, or incorporate the information into the article yourself.
    • If the article is completely accurate and has low helpfulness ratings, clear the ratings and explain why.
  2. 2
Go to Category:Accuracy and review the articles there. Read the article thoroughly, and look at the discussion page to see if there is any explanation as to why the accuracy tag is added. If you do not see any explanation and you think the article is accurate, feel free to remove the tag with an explanation of why you removed it.
  3. 3
Go to the accuracy patrol list. Look at the helpfulness ratings, read the article with an eye for accuracy issues, and check the discussion page. If the article is accurate enough to be helpful to readers, clear the ratings. Try looking at some articles with low helpfulness ratings here and reviewing the articles.
  4. 4
Reach out to experts. Go to this list and look at the list of editors who are expert on certain topics. Post on their talk pages or send them an email with an article to review (on their expert topic areas) for quality and accuracy, and then to follow up with their feedback on the article.
  5. 5
Check a specific category. Browse our Categories and pick out a category that you would like to help review accuracy in. It is recommended to choose a topic that you are expert at.
