How to Recycle a Tissue Box to Hold Plastic Bags
If you save plastic grocery bags for cleaning or storage projects, but find that they are littering a drawer (or room), you can create an easy storage system that costs next to nothing.
Steps
- 1Remove tissue from tissue box (a better idea is to use the tissue and then save the box).
- 2Cut or remove the plastic flap that surrounds the mouth of the tissue box. This flap is in place to provide passage for tissues, which are thinner than the plastic bags.
- Use the craft knife to cut around the mouth of the tissue box and discard plastic.

- 4Place bags inside the tissue box. Make the bag that is holding all the bags in place the bottom bag so it sits on the bottom of the tissue box.
- 5Pull one of the bags through the opening of the tissue box. You want the bag to emerge but not be sticking out too far (basically it should emerge like a waiting tissue).
- 6Use as needed. When you need a bag, remove it from the tissue box. Then pull the next bag through the hole.
Things You’ll Need
- Empty tissue box
- Craft knife
- Grocery-sized plastic bags
Tips
- Avoid using an overly damaged tissue box, but rather one that is in good condition.
