How to Prepare Spicy Tuna

Spicy tuna is a quick dish you can make with ingredients you probably already have on hand in your pantry. A cooked vegetable dressing is mixed with spices and poured over canned tuna to complete the dish. Spicy tuna is best served with crackers or bread.

Ingredients

  • Oil / butter
  • 2 tins of tuna fish
  • Half a chunk of red onion
  • 5 to 6 cloves of garlic
  • Few coriander leaves
  • Lemon
  • Spices
    • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
    • 1/2 to 1 tablespoon red chili powder

Steps

    Chop the red onion and garlic into small pieces.

    Dice a tomato and coriander leaves as well.

    Heat oil or butter in a non-stick pan or shallow container.

    Add the chopped onion, garlic and curry leaves.

    Sauté the mixture until they turn light brown.

    Add the tomatoes, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder and 1/2 or 1 tablespoon red chili powder.

    Add tuna pieces from the tins and mix thoroughly.

    Add little bit of hot water to the tins.

    Shake the mixture well and pour it over the mixture.

    Sauté well for 10 minutes and turn off the gas.

    Garnish the mixture with coriander leaves and a pinch of lemon juice.

    Serve with bread or rice.

Tips

  • You can cook this dish and use it to make sandwiches, side dishes and more.
  • There is no need to add salt but you can sprinkle a bit if you want to.
  • Keep all the ingredients ready before starting as it takes only 10 minutes to prepare the dish.

Warnings

  • Before adding the tuna pieces, remove excess oil from the tin and throw it away.
  • Do not cook for more than 10 minutes .
  • Add suitable amount of chili powder and not too much.
