How to Prepare For Secondary School

If you're really excited about moving schools and you want to be as prepared as possible, use this guide!

    Wake up early but not too early. Make sure you wake up five minutes earlier than you usually do just to wake yourself up gently, you don't want to fall asleep at school. Maybe try walking around and listening to some music to freshen up. Make sure you set an alarm to get you up in time!

    Prepare and eat a healthy breakfast, one that kick starts your brain. Eat food like jam/peanut butter, milk, bacon and wide range of fruits. Make sure you eat something that's healthy, good for energy and makes you feel good.

    Try to look nice. You need to look like a fresh person, so your new classmates won't get the wrong idea. You can do this by having a shower/bath, but make it quick. Wash your hair and brushing it thoroughly the night before, otherwise time could get away from you. Doing you're teeth and using mouthwash. Wear only makeup that isn't visible, but makes you look nice.

    Make sure you pack everything a few days before. Make sure you have everything ready and make a list to check it off everyday.Also don't leave everything to the last day. On your first day, you might be doing lessons, bring everything that you think you will need. So have some paper to jot down things to remember, pencil case which includes, pencils, pencil crayons, eraser and a ruler. If you think you'll need something take it just in case.

    Be friendly You don't want to give off the wrong ideas, especially to the teachers. Some teachers might notice and suddenly realize you're not exactly friendly and possibly loud. Don't let this happen or they'll notice and think of differently. You want to give a nice image to you're new classmates.

    Remember, most of your classmates will be shy as well so try to make them feel comfortable with you and getting to know you. Make them feel really happy around you.

    Don't be shy also remember try to relax, your teacher won't nag you until your next year at secondary school. So try to fit in. Remember your teacher really wants you to succeed and fit in.

  • Don't over prepare! Don't forget that you must relax a little, too. Surprises can be nice.
  • Preparing will make your parents think you are very responsible.
  • Try and get on the good side of your classmates - it could come in handy down the road.
  • On your first day it's good to try and make some friends.


  • Don't forget -- school's not only about studying, it's a social thing, too.
  • Don't mess up in school! It's the beginning of the rest of your life.
