How to Patrol New Articles on wikiHow

When new articles are published, they undergo a quality review to make sure that they are up to the standards outlined in the Writer's Guide before being indexed in search engines. Whether you are a Booster or not, you can still help out by reviewing new pages.

    Bookmark Special:New Pages. This provides a chronological list, with the most recent article at the top.

    Add any relevant templates if you feel that the article needs more work. For example, if the article needs copyediting, you could add a copyedit tag; if the article is barely helpful, you could add a stub tag.

    Make a bold edit if the article needs a lot of work. This could be a major polishing/cleanup, or perhaps it could be adding new advice to the article to make it more helpful. Try expanding the article if it is a stub. Making a bold edit could increase the article's chances of being fully published.

    If you are a booster: Review the article and make a decision about whether it should be promoted or demoted. If the article has not been reviewed already, press either "Promote" or "Demote" from the Admin tools. Remember to use your discretion with these buttons.


  • Avoid newer articles with an {{Inuse}} tag to prevent an edit war.
