How to Pass a Lacrosse Ball with a Short Stick

Have you been finding yourself holding your Lacrosse stick in a short position, and unable to pass the ball? Even these moves can be corrected in Lacrosse. Learn how to pass it correctly with that short stick, by reading and following the directions in this article.

    Use your non-dominant hand to grab the bottom of the stick, while grabbing the other end of the stick with your dominant hand somewhere near the middle of the shaft. Never go above the middle of the shaft to pass the ball.
    • If you are right-handed, the stick should be on the right side of your body.
    • If you are left-handed, just change the position to your left side.

    Place a ball in your Lacrosse stick as you set the shaft of the stick over your right shoulder. Hold on to it with your left hand at the bottom of the stick.

    Grab the middle of the shaft of your Lacrosse stick with your dominant hand, but keep it at the same angle, now that the stick is balanced. The head should be facing up.

    Give a long enough push/pull to toss the ball to the other player on your team.Pull the stick with your non-dominant hand and push with your dominant hand.


  • With practice, the hand position will become second nature. So practice makes perfect!


  • If you start to get any pain in your arms, shoulders, or any other place once you start passing, catching, shooting or cradling, you might need a break.
