How to Participate in the Fann Cup

The Fann Cup is a charity pick-up lacrosse tournament held every summer between the fan clubs of the Buffalo Bandits, Rochester Knighthawks, Toronto Rock, and Philadelphia Wings, with hosting duties rotating between each city. Playing in the tournament can be a fun way to help local charities

Steps

    Locate the NLL team nearest to you.

    Visit the National Lacrosse League message board and click on "Fann Cup Forum" (You'll need to register if you want to post threads or replies). This forum wiil give valuable information on the current tournament, including dates and times of tournament games.

    You may need to join your local team's fan club if you want to play in the tournament.

    Attend as many practices as your schedule permits.

    Make sure to pay any participant fees in a timely manner.

    On the day of the tournament, arrive at the arena in a timely manner.

Tips

  • Make sure you have attained the minimum age for tournament participation by the big day (21 in the States, 19 in Ontario)
  • Fann Cuppers are known to enjoy a cold one on occasion. You may imbibe if and only if the following conditions are met: You are of legal drinking age, you are consuming in the designated bar area, and your team is finished playing for the day.
  • Have fun, dammit!

Warnings

  • Although the Fann Cup is a non-contact tournament, the risk for injury still exists. You are well advised to get a physical before playing.
  • Drink plenty of water, as the building hosting the tournament may not be air-conditioned.
  • Remember that this tournament is played for fun. Don't get overly excited and end up doing something that may jeopardize your future participation in the tournament.
