    Name your planner. This may sound odd, but when you name an object, you give it more presence in your life.

    Write out sections for every subject/course you take. Put the homework for each subject/course under its corresponding section. Use bullets and create an extra section, if possible, for reminders and events.

    Make your planner a part of your daily routine. With this, it will become a habit to check your planner daily without forgetting about it the next week.

    Fill in your assignments' due dates as soon as you get them. Write down the corresponding textbook pages and things the professor/teacher tells you to include.

    Learn to use the backward planning. Try to review your plans two or three days before to remind yourself of the event.

    Use the color coding system. It will keep your planner and you more organized. For example, try highlighting things that are due this week in yellow.

    Use colorful sticky-note flags to mark your events. Buy and hole-punch Zip-Lock plastic bags or just the pouches inside the planner and fill them with index tags, big stickies, small stickies...anything is possible!

    Don't discard old pages. You never know if it will come in handy. Store them in a box if you have to. If it's not too expensive, you can also buy another planner, label it, and keep the old pages in there for future reference.
