How to Modify Your Tenth Doctor Sonic Screwdriver Toy

Doctor Who is one of the greatest science-fiction shows and has been on for over 50 years. The toys of the franchise don't always live up to their counter-parts in the show. This article will explain how to modify your Ninth/Tenth Doctor Sonic Screwdriver. Allons-y!

  1. 1
Take a close look at the authentic sonic screwdriver from the show (specifically from series 1 and 2). You should notice that the button is on the slider.
  2. 2
    Get your toy sonic screwdriver.
  3. 3
Take the snap-on slider piece off your sonic screwdriver. Remove the screw that attaches the slider to the extender.
  4. 4
Remove the extender from the toy carefully, so as not to damage it. It should come out from where the buttons on the side are.
  5. 5
Drill a tiny hole the size of the screw into the button on the extender.
  6. 6
Screw the slider back on and attach the add-on piece.
  7. 7
Screw it in until the sonic keeps on buzzing. Then loosen it a tiny bit so that it will only make the sound when you press the slider down.
  8. 8
Dress in a leather jacket and V-neck T-shirt (Eccleston) or a suit (Tennant) and have adventures with your modified sonic screwdriver toy.

  • For detail, add a small PCB (printed circuit board) switch to the slider by burning a hole with a soldering iron into the slider. You can also cut off the pointed protrusions on the bottom and glue it onto the slider.
  • If you can afford it, buy the Sonic Pen set which contains the sonic screwdriver.

  • Beware of children, pets and curious pals.
