Remove any cement. Large blocks of concrete in your driveway, patio, walkways, and pool decks are bad for the environment. They do not promote healthy storm water management. Our echo system relies on water seeping into the earth, filling our streams and rivers, and evaporating to start the cycle again. Cement prevents rainwater from penetrating the earth, as it should.
  2. 2
Install permeable pavers. Instead of a concrete patio, have permeable pavers installed. They have small holes inside of them that allow water to seep into the earth. They also reduce waste because if one is damaged it can be replaced individually instead of replacing the entire patio.
