How to Make Wild Rice Soup
Wild Rice Soup is a food that is great for days that are cold and rainy outside, and you want to stay warm and have a delicious meal! Here is how you can make some delicious homemade Wild Rice Soup.
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons of butter
- 1 tablespoon minced onion
- 1/2 cup flour
- 3 cups of chicken broth
- 2 cups of cooked wild rice
- 1/3 cup of minced ham
- 1/2 cup of finely grated carrots
- 3 tablespoons of chopped slivered almonds
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of "Half and half"
- 2 tablespoons of dry sherry wine (optional)
Steps
- 1Melt the butter in a saucepan
- 2Sautée the onion until tender (Add to the saucepan)
- 3Blend in flour
- 4Gradually add the broth
- 5Stir the mixture constantly until it comes to a boil
- 6Allow the mixture to boil for 1 minute
- 7Stir in the rice, ham, carrots, almonds and salt
- 8Simmer the mixture about 5 minutes
- 9Blend in the Half and half
- 10Heat the soup to serving temperature
- 11Garnish with parsley
- 12Serve & Enjoy!
