How to Make Violet Fizz

This is a variation of the classic Gin Fizz. The crème de violette adds an interesting new flavor, as well as a lovely shade of purple.

A single serve:

  • Ice
  • 1 1/2 oz gin
  • 1 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 oz crème de violette (in place of sugar or simple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon egg white (do see Warnings below)
  • Sparkling mineral water
  • Fresh violet flowers to garnish (optional)

Fill the rest of the glass with mineral water. Garnish with fresh violet flowers if you have them.

  • If you're worried about the source of the egg white, use pasteurized egg white. Or, leave out the egg white altogether for a shaken violet gin drink.
