How to Make Toasted Icing

Toasted icing is suitable for covering two cakes. It is an old-fashioned cake icing style that sets well and tastes great.

Ingredients

  • 5 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp melted butter
  • 3 tbsp condensed milk
  • Nuts, chopped

Steps

    Whip together the sugar, melted butter, and condensed milk.

    Add the nuts and mix through.

    Spread the mixture on top of the cake.

    Place the iced cake under the griller on low. Gently and quickly toast until golden brown. Keep a close eye on it!

    Remove from the griller and leave to set out of direct sunlight or a warm area.

  • Store cake in an airtight container and the icing will keep well.
