How to Make Ribbon Loops on Wire Stems
Ribbon loops on wire stems are useful for craft, floral arrangements, gift wrapping and decorations. They're fairly easy to make and can be made using cloth or synthetic ribbon alike.
Steps
- 1Lay the ribbon out flat on the workspace. Cut the wire to the length desired before proceeding.
- 2Make the loops. Going from the top of the ribbon (choose an end) make loops by folding loosely backwards and forwards two to three times until you reach the bottom of the ribbon. The amount of loops depend on how large you want the final product to be.
- 3Cut off the remainder of the ribbon. Use a diagonal cut to prevent further unravelling of the ribbon.
- 4Place the wire over the centre of the loops (the part where your fingers can hold all the loops together at one end). Twist around tightly to hold the loops firmly in place.
- 5Done.
Tips
- When several of these are joined together, they create the impression of a very large bow. This can be attached to the side of a basket or similar object, for display or used for gifts.
Things You'll Need
- 3 meters (9.8 ft) of ribbon (more than enough for a few of these items)
- Florist wire
