How to Make Pita Bread Go Stale Fast

Stale bread is usually not desirable, but stale pita bread is sometimes used in dishes like salads. Occasionally, when some "helpful" person throws away the pita bread you've been saving for days, it becomes necessary to make fresh pita bread go stale quickly.


Note: This has only been tried with the thinner, sometimes called "Lebanese" pita bread. Results may differ if you use the thick "Greek" pita bread.

    Break the pita bread into smaller pieces. The edges go stale faster, so you want as many edges possible.

    Put the pita on a plate. Spread it out, because you want a lot of surface area.

    Leave the plate on a counter for a few hours. The longer the better, but two to three hours should be enough.

Tips

  • Use the pita in your favorite recipes! Stale pita can be used to make pita chips, bread crumbs, Fattoush, etc.
