How to Make Pear Baby Food

Pears are an excellent 1st food starter because it helps with reflux and baby constipation[1].


  • 1 or 2 medium pears
  • a drop or two of lemon juice

    Peel the skin off of the pear. The peel is recommended to take off for small infants, but because the skin is easily digestible, this is optional to do.

    Cut the pear into quarters and de-seed the pears.

    Place pieces in a blender or food processor to puree with a few drops of lemon juice.

    Serve immediately or store in freezer.


  • Adding lemon juice makes the browning process slow down, just like with bananas.
  • Use puree pears in a day of making or store it in the freezer up to a month. Thaw it out in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Because pears brown fast, you'll need to work fast.
  • Some recipes call for sugar. Ask your baby's pediatrician for more information and standards about the baby's diet.
  • You can cook the pears by any method, like steaming, to get a more tender and soft texture. Cooking fruits are recommended for younger babies who start on foods early.
