How to Make Mud and Worms Pudding

It's well known that around Halloween time, there's nothing is more delicious than a thick, squiggly worm slithering it's way down into your belly. It's especially yummy when washed down with a big gulp of mud! If that sounds too gross, maybe you would like to try Mud and Worms Pudding! It's is a delicious confection for kids, and it tastes way better than it looks! Serve it as a Halloween dessert, for a party, or just because it tastes good. We'll show you how to make it!


  • One box instant chocolate pudding.
  • One box Oreo chocolate cookies.
  • Gummy worms (buy them, or make your own).

    Whip up some mud. Prepare the chocolate pudding as directed on the box. Don't place in individual containers—put all the pudding in one bowl, and cover with a layer of plastic wrap on the surface of the pudding (to prevent a crust). Let it set in the fridge until chilled.

    Make dirt. Crush the Oreo cookies by putting them in a plastic bag and rolling over them with a rolling pin. Divide the crushed cookies into two bowls.

    Add texture to the mud. Take about two tablespoons of the pudding from the fridge and mix it with one of the bowls of crushed Oreo cookies. Add more pudding if needed, but keep the mixture fairly dry.

    Plant the soil. Flatten out some of the cookie mix into the bottom of each dessert bowl. Use a large spoon to do this. How much you use will depend on how big your dessert dishes are, and how many dishes you are making. Generally, you'll want to aim for about one heaping tablespoon of dirt per bowl.

    Pour on the mud. Dish the chocolate pudding from the fridge into all the dessert bowls, being extra careful not to disturb the cookie mixture on the bottom.

    Add a layer of topsoil. Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos onto the top of the pudding mix, so it looks like dirt and mud. Use as much as you like!

    Put the gummy worms into the pudding. Be creative, put some in halfway and others lying on the top. Have fun with it.

    Keep the worms chill. Store your Mud and Worms pudding in the fridge to keep it cold until you are ready to serve it to guests.


  • If you can find Gummy bugs, use those too. It will add to the realistic nature of this dish.
  • If you make your own gummy worms, you can color them as realistically as you want.
  • See the box for your pudding mix, as some brands mix with milk and other brands mix with water.


  • Do not use real worms or bugs! Yuck!
  • Do no use real mud. It might have real worms in it. Double yuck!
  • Be prepared, as some people will get grossed out by this.
  • Common sense caution: This dish may be tasty.
