How to Make Monji Haakh (Kohl Rabi) in Kashmiri Style

Kohl Rabi cooked in Kashmiri style is called "Monji Haakh". It is easy to prepare and healthy dish. It is tasty and has its own flavor.


  • Kohl Rabi- 1 kg
  • Onions- 2
  • Garlic- 5 to 6
  • Kashmiri Veri Masala(with garlic and onion)- 1 tablespoon
  • Salt- 1 tablespoon

    Chop the Kohl Rabi into big pieces.

    Wash them under running water thoroughly.

    Keep it aside to remove the excess water from it.

    Take a large frying pan and add oil into it.

    Chop the onions and add into the oil.

    Sauté them for some time.

    Add garlic cloves and stir fry them for a few minutes.

    Add Kashmiri veri masala prepared with onions and garlic.Mix them well.

    Add the Kohl Rabi and leaves.

    Cover the pan with a lid and stir fry for a few minutes till it is fully cooked.


  • You might add more of the Kashmiri veri masala for more taste and spicy.
  • You should cook on low flame.
  • Addition of Kashmiri veri masala enhances the taste and flavor of the dish as it acquires special smell of garlic and onions present in it and the spices.
