How to Make Mixed Spices Water

Spices are prepared in different ways to make the most of their flavor in the respective dish. One method of extracting the best from mixed spices is to prepare them as a liquid. In this process, the spices are not fried in oil or ghee. Instead, all the spices are mixed in water and kept there to infuse for a few minutes. The liquid imparts a very special taste to the final dish.

    1 tablespoon turmeric powder

    2 tablespoons Kashmiri red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon asafoetida

    1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala

    1 tablespoon dried mango powder

  • 50ml/1.6 fl oz water

    Add all of the spices mentioned in the list of the ingredients to a mixing bowl.

    Add the water to the bowl.

    Mix all the ingredients with a stirring spoon.

    If there are any lumps present in the bowl, press down as you stir, to remove them. The resulting mixture should appear smooth and free of lumps.

    Once all the lumps have been removed from the mixture, use the mixed spices water to make curries.
