How to Make Lavender Salt

Lavender salt is a unique flavouring for salt that can be used in cuisine from salads and savouries to baking and desserts.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 stalks with lavender flowers
  • 250g large sea salt (if possible, greyish in colour)

    Cut the flower stalks into small pieces using the scissors. Remove any tail ends of the lavender stalks.

    Mix the salt and lavender flower pieces in a large bowl.

    Pour the lavender salt into the airtight container. Leave it to infuse at room temperature for 2 weeks.

    After two weeks, remove the lavender pieces.

    Store and use the salt. Keep the lavender infused salt in the same airtight container. Use to flavour food as needed. It can also be ground for cooking or eating.
