How to Make Haitian Egg Nog

Try this recipe of Eggnog with a twist!

Ingredients

  • 2 (12 oz/350 ml) cans evaporated milk
  • 2 (12 oz/350 ml) cans condensed sweetened milk
  • 1 (15 oz/450 ml) can cream of coconut (not coconut milk)
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (or vanilla flavoring)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (or 1 teaspoon grated cinnamon from the stick)
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1 anise star
  • 1 lime, zest and juiced
  • 1 bottle of 80% proof rum (the rum of your choice with the amount of alcohol you want depending on how strong you want the drink.)

Steps

    Mix evaporated milk and the sweetened condense milk in bowl, whisk until well blended.

    Add cream of coconut, almond extract, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg the anise and the lime juice to the bowl of Eggnog.

    Stir the nog mix well.

    Add the rum to the bowl of ingredients last, if you are serving this to a bunch of adults.

Tips

  • Serve over crushed ice and sprinkle some grated nutmeg over the drink before serving to guests.
  • For kids, you can use this same recipe just make a batch without the rum.
