How to Make Christmas Potpourri



Bring the spirit of Christmas into your home with a Christmas inspired potpourri.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup cedar tips, fresh or dried
  • 1 cup bay leaves, fresh or dried
  • 3 small pomegranates, dried
  • 1-2 dried orange slices
  • 3/4 cup orange peel, dried
  • 1/4 - 1/2 cup cinnamon pieces, crushed
  • 2 dozen pine cones, assorted, various sizes
  • 1/4 cup rosehips, dried
  • 2 tbsp dried orris root chips
  • 4 drops oil of cinnamon
  • 2 drops bergamot oil
  • 1 drop rosemary oil

Steps

    Combine all ingredients except for the oils in a ceramic bowl. Mix together well.

    Add the essential oil drops and stir through.

    Pour the contents into a jar or similar covered container. Store the mixture for 3 - 4 weeks in a cool and dark place. During this time the aromas will infuse through the potpourri. Stir and turn occasionally.

    Use. Pour an amount of potpourri needed for your decorative purposes. Any leftover can be used to start the potpourri production again if wished.

Tips

  • Paint the edges of some of the leaves and cones with silver, gold or snow paint if wished. This is best done just prior to display of the potpourri, after it has infused.
