How to Make Chocolate Hazelnut Buns

We are all familiar with buns: Ball of bread, with a somewhat bland taste. Chocolate Hazelnut buns, a fusion of bread and dessert, are bound to impress.

Ingredients

  • 600 grams (4 ¾ cup) flour
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 95 grams (½ cup) sugar
  • 50 grams (½ cup) crushed hazelnuts
  • 60 grams (4 ¼ tablespoon) butter
  • 12 grams (3 tsp) of fresh yeast
  • 250 milliliters (1 cup 2 tablespoons) water
  • 60 milliliters (¼ cup) milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 200 grams (1 cup 2 tablespoons) chocolate chips
  • 50 (6 ½ tablespoon) grams flour

Steps

    Mix the ingredients. Add the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, butter, yeast and water into a mixing bowl. You can mix the mixture by stirring with a large spoon or stirring rod, or stirring by machine on a low power for 4 minutes.

    Add the rest of the ingredients. Add the chocolate chips, crushed hazelnuts and the rest of the milk.

    Prepare the dough. Knead the dough into a ball on a floured surface. Leave for 5 minutes.

    Divide the dough. Separate the dough equally in two. Roll into logs. Put them into a tray and cover them with a towel.

    Allow them to rise. Set the buns aside for 2 hours to allow them to rise.

    Prepare the buns. Cut the logs into 1 inch (2.5 cm) slices and place the slices on a baking pan. Cut 2-3 slits into the top of each bun with a sharp knife and brush them with beaten egg.

    Set the oven to 180 C or 350 F.

    Bake. Place them into the oven for 15 minutes. Bake until you notice the buns having a brownish colour.

    Serve.

Tips

  • Add milk to loosen the mixture if it is stiff.
  • Push dough back down to the bottom of the mixer to aid the mixing.
