How to Make Carob Icing or Topping

Carob is made from the pod of the carob tree, pulverized into a powder. Carob is caffeine-free and is naturally sweet; it is often used as an alternative to chocolate. The recipe for this topping takes only a few minutes to make.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup carob powder
  • 1/4 cup milk or soy milk (use less if making icing)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla essence/extract
  • 1 tablespoon honey or rice syrup

    Pour the carob powder into a saucepan. Pour in the milk or soy milk and stir through.

Tips

  • This can also be used as a fondue if wished.
