How to Make Candy Cane Antlers

Two Parts:Making the Candy CanesAdding the Candy Cane Antlers to a Headband

Candy cane antlers will create Christmas cheer and can be worn or used as a decoration.

Part 1
Making the Candy Canes

  1. 1
Wind a white and a red pipe cleaner together in a neat line. Keep the crossing points even all the way up, for the neatest look.
  2. 2
Bend the length over to form a hook. It should now take on the appearance of a candy cane.
  3. 3
    Repeat to make another one.

Part 2
Adding the Candy Cane Antlers to a Headband

  1. 1
Kink the base of one candy cane to bend it slightly. Bend as little as possible, to avoid wasting the length.
  2. 2
Choose a spot for each candy cane to sit on the headband. They are meant to look like antlers, so space them apart enough. Mark with a pencil to remember the exact positioning.
  3. 3
Glue the bent portion of the first candy cane to the underside of the headband. Hold in place briefly to ensure it is tethered, then let dry completely.
  4. 4
Repeat with the other candy cane.
  5. 5
Pull the candy cane antlers upright. They should sit straight above the headband.
  6. 6
Slip the headband on. Once the antlers have completely dried in place, test the look in front of the mirror. Make any adjustments needed to the hook shape, to ensure it looks good.
  7. 7
Match the headband with a red or green sweater. Head out and have some holiday season fun.

  • Make a set of antlers for your dog or cat, using a suitable headband that won't hurt your pet.

  • Use appropriate care when handling a hot glue gun.
  • Do not try the headband on until the glue is fully dried; otherwise the glue may adhere to your hair and require cutting the hair to remove it. Ouch!
