How to Make Buttermilk Fried Chicken

This is an old family recipe for a country fried chicken with lots of flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 4 pounds of chicken parts of your choice
  • 3 cups milk or buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar (if you do not use buttermilk)
  • 2 tablespoons season salt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup Johnny's seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup oil

Steps

    Mix the milk and seasoning in a large bowl and add the chicken to marinade for 2 to 3 hours.

    Mix the dry ingredients into a large bowl and dredge the chicken till lightly coated.

    Heat the oil to a medium heat when it is up to temperature add the chicken but do not overcrowd the pan so that is fries and not steam the chicken.

    Cook chicken pieces until golden brown 2 to 3 minutes each side

    Place the cooked chicken in a baking pan and bake at 350 °F (177 °C). for about 40 minutes.

    Place cooked chicken on a platter and serve
