How to Make Brown Sugar Meatballs

These brown sugar turkey and beef meatballs combine sweet, savory and spicy flavors. How can you miss out on that opportunity? This recipe is also great if you have a little helper in the kitchen with you; your child will love making the meatballs since its a very hands-on process. This recipe is easy and simple and won't take long. You'll be enjoying your meatballs in no time!


  • One pound of ground turkey
  • One pound of ground beef
  • Half cup of Italian bread crumbs
  • One egg
  • One teaspoon of paprika
  • Half teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Half teaspoon of Adobo seasoning salt (with pepper)
  • 1/8 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • One teaspoon of dried oregano
  • One teaspoon Marie Sharp's Habanero Pepper Sauce (fiery hot)
  • Half cup of light brown sugar
  • Two tablespoons of white cooking wine
  • One tablespoon of rice vinegar

    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    In your large bowl, combine both your ground turkey and your ground beef. If they need to be broken down into smaller pieces do so now.

    Add the breadcrumbs, egg, paprika, cayenne pepper, Adobo seasoning salt, fresh ground pepper, garlic cloves, dried oregano, and habanero pepper sauce, into the bowl.

    Use your hands and mix until all ingredients are well combined and thoroughly incorporated

    Grab your baking sheet, and shape mixture into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet.

    Place in the oven for 18 minutes.

    While your meatballs are in the oven, prepare the glaze.

    In your large frying pan combine the light brown sugar, rice vinegar, and white cooking wine.

    Stir the glaze over a medium fire for 5 minutes. Then turn to low until the meatballs are done.

    Drain off the liquid from the meatballs once they are finished and add to frying pan.

    Cover the frying pan and cook on each side for 5 minutes or until golden brown on medium fire. Occasionally pour glaze over meatballs.

    Remove from frying pan and serve.


  • When storing away, make sure all the glaze is at the bottom of the container to avoid the meatballs from getting too hard in the fridge.
  • Its best to re-heat on the stovetop rather than the microwave.


  • Only use light brown sugar, dark brown sugar will change the taste of the meatballs and the consistency of the glaze.
  • Before taking the meatballs out of the oven, pierce one or two of them to be sure the inside is no longer pink before moving to the pan.
  • You may need to add 10-15 extra minutes depending on your oven.
