How to Make Barley Porridge
Oats are not the only source of making porridge; barley can make an excellent porridge, too.
Ingredients
- 1 cup pearl barley
- 5 cups of water to boil
- 1 teaspoon salt (optional)
Steps
- 1Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Wash the pearl barley if you haven't already done so.
- 2Add the cup of pearl barley to the boiling water. Add the salt if using.
- 3Simmer for 1 to 3 hours. The consistency needs to turn to porridge. Top up the water as needed and stir now and then.
- 4Remove from the heat. Serve. It can be served as is or be accompanied by stewed fruit, fresh fruit slices and berries, cream or lemon sauce.
