How to Make Bacon Cake

Bacon cake is a savory cake suitable for picnics and barbecues. It's also a nice snack for the person who would prefer a non-sugared treat.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 5.3 oz all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3.4 fl oz sunflower oil
  • 4.2 fl oz whole milk, gently heated
  • 3.5 oz shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 5.3 oz bacon
  • Pinch of pepper, salt to taste

Steps

    Preheat the oven to 350F/177C degrees.

    Cut the bacon into smaller pieces.

    Beat together the flour, eggs, baking powder and salt and pepper to taste.

    Gradually pour in the oil and gently heated milk.

    Add the shredded cheese and chopped bacon. Mix through thoroughly.

    Pour the batter into the lined or silicon cake pan. Do not grease! The bacon will contribute enough grease!

    Place in the preheated oven. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and leave to cool.

    Remove from the pan when completely cooled.

    Serve. Cut slices and serve with a picnic meal, barbecue or eat as a snack food.

Tips

  • It doesn't matter whether you make a square or circle bacon cake. Choose what you like.
